Can't Let Go!!!:

May 19, 2011

I can always remember going over to the house, and it didn't matter where I was standing or sitting. ( MOM ) would often call my name and proceed to give me the biggest hug for as long as 2 mins or at least until another Brower family member came along to pry us apart LOL!  I'm goin to miss those very warm and affectionate greetings.

NVLL Team Mom & Scorekeeper Forever

May 19, 2011

During my youth, Mom was always the team mom and scorekeeper - she always kept meticulous score of the game. As she passed, it's something that I've reflected on a whole bunch...because she was *always* there at every game, no matter what. When I reached out to my NVLL buddies from 30 years ago...here's what they had to say...it's quite touching...

Sean Adams: "...this just took some wind out of my sails. Your mom was great and as supportive as any 11 year old could have. She was always so helpful. We are sending up prayers for you and your family."

Gordon Eaton: "...Sorry to hear about that Greg. She was a great team mom. We'll keep her in our prayers."

Zontrel Rayford: "Much Love to MOM!!!! She treated ALL of us like we were own!!!! There will NEVER be a team MOM like NVLL had in Mrs. Brower!!!! Much Love to the Brower Family!!! My Heart and Prayers are with u ALL!!!"

Gerald Eaton: "We send our prayers and know she’s in a good place. She has, and will continue, to touch many lives and will never be forgotten..."

Genghis Gulley: "Greg u know I have so much love for the Brower Family. Mrs. Brower was always so nice to me, she will truly be missed."

Adopted son

May 16, 2011

I was just Greg's new buddy from UCSB, up to play in his neighborhood Thanksgiving football game.  Upon arrival, it was like I had grown up beside Greg and his family and had just never known I was actually from Vallejo.

Mrs. and Mr. (He always insists I call him Ed) found out that my birthday was always around Thanksgiving, and from that day on the Browers always made sure that their new son had some cake and birthday cheer at their home.

Holidays and special events from that day on always seemed to have a Brower aspect and I can't imagine enjoying my time with them more.

I didn't realize how sad I'd be until I wrote this small tidbit of a story about Mrs. Brower and the wonderful person she was.  I'm going to miss her and hold on to the memories of those days gone by just that much tighter.

Greg, it's been, what 16 years now since you and Huai-en got married.  I ran into your Mom at the church that day, and we greeted each other with huge hugs.  She thanked me for coming, and we exchanged small talk for a bit.  She turned to me and gave me another HUGE hug and thanked me again for coming!  I said "Mrs. B, you okay?"  She said "I'm just so proud of them,".  I think I may have gotten a third hug out of her.  At that moment, she was a mom, overwhelmed with joy, on her kid's wedding day.  I'm glad I got to share that moment with her.

The non-stop hostess...

May 15, 2011

Maybe it was hanging just out for the evening playing a game...

Maybe it was coming over for a huge post Big Game BBQ...

Maybe you needed a place to stay for a couple of weeks...

But you always knew Mrs (and Mr) Brower would welcome you over at 120 Cook Court.  The door was always open.

She'd take her "host show" on the road, going to practices & meets and helping out all over the place to make sure things ran smooth and the kids had a great time.

I also remember she was a Mah Jong grand master.

I'm sure that her other 12 thousand kids would agree with me when I say the world is a little less wonderful without her.
