Mary Helena Augusta Scotland née Dublin was born in Swetes, Antigua.She was the daughter of Roy Dublin (an Antiguan headmaster, poet and musician) and Rachel Dublin née Royer (a Dominican school teacher).She had one sister, Haytheline (Helen) Dublin.

Mary and Jasper (Bobby) Scotland (jasperscotland.forevermissed.com) were married on February 8th, 1962 at the Tyrells Roman Catholic Church in Antigua. Together, they parented five children: Robert, Sandra, Hélène, Jo-Anne and Nigel.

She was an active church member, and served the community with commitment and enthusiasm – visiting prisoners in their cells as she shared God’s message; spearheading an Alpha programme to encourage conversations about the importance of faith and the need for love and tolerance; helping others through her involvement with the Society of St.Vincent de Paul.And so much more.

Throughout her life, she resided in Canada, Guyana, Barbados, the United Kingdom, Antigua & Barbuda and Dominica. She was a teacher, graduating in business studies from Ryerson Polytechnic in Toronto.

At the end of her life, her final words were:

“Holy Mary, Mother of God. Pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death”.

May her soul rest in peace and rise in everlasting glory.

   I know we weren't around each other often, but over the years, I always noticed how caring, loving, and upbeat you were. Your presence always gave me a good vibe and your smile never escapes my mind! I'll hold onto that as we mourn your loss. Dearest Mary,

I will always fondly remember my visit with your family in April 1971 when I met your family through Brenda Thomas. My memory of you is of a woman who was very welcoming of people into your home. I have fond memories of you, Bobby, Sandra, Michelle and Andre. I remember how you and Bobby took Brenda and me on day trips to allow me to see the many beautiful sites in Antigua. I am sad that you have passed away as our planet has lost an earth angel who was selfless, kind and giving. May you enjoy eternal rest in the presence of God. Rest in peace dear Mary!!!

From: George and Miriam Richards.     We first met Mary when Bobby, who has been my close friend since our school days at AGS, brought her to see us. They had just returned from overseas. assignments.    We loved her from the start. Mary, a Proverbs 31 wife and mother became a dear and treasured friend; easy to love, prayerful, homely, and a joy to be with.     She was the reminder of the gentleness of the Mother of Jesus.     We have had good times together and we shall miss her.            We tender our condolences to Bobby and the family and as a tribute to her memory we offer two verses of a floral hymn:-.          "Here, Lord, we offer Thee all that is fairest.                             Flowers in their freshness from garden and field,.

Aunt Mary, or "Tanty" as I called her helped to shape my religious faith by her humble execution of her daily tasks and her strong faith in God. I have no doubt that she now rests with God and though I miss her terribly, I am grateful for her life and her example. Till we meet again, dear Aunt, be at peace.

Mary Scotland was a devoted, compassionate and caring Business Education Teachet and trusted Vice Principal during my tenure as Principal of St. Patrick's Roman Catholic School in Barbados. She was a friend, confidant and stalwart supporter. Together we fought to continue the task of forming women for life and service. The hundreds of good women across the Caribbean and those who migrated elsewhere attest to the formation they received.
We have a saint before our God to intercede for us. Enjoy the splendour of God's presence and may all those you have left behind be comforted.

Dear Uncle Bobby, Andy, Sandy, Michelle, Jo-Anne, Nigel, and Family,

Our condolences, heart-felt sadness, and prayers are with you all. Sister-in-law, Aunt, friend, Aunt Mary was a wonderful woman whose love, kindness, and beautiful spirit will never be forgotten by any of us. Her love, strength, and courage were surely an inspiration and a blessing to you and your families, but also to all of us. Aunt Mary was a truly admirable woman and we feel privileged to have known her. We will always remember her laugh and how she lit up a room with her energy and personality. We all know that God and her family were her heart and you all made her life special and made her proud. You have lived Exodus 20:12, "Honor your father and mother."

Sr. Mary will be forever in our hearts. Her gentle voice and sound advice will ring clearly particularly when we are faced with difficult decisions. Her kind and sound guidance remains as a rudder for our SVP Holy Family Conference. We are comforted as we feel sure Sr. Mary is resting among the angels in heaven.

If there was ever a "holy" woman, in the best sense of that word, it was Mary Scotland. Her presence oozed a calm and ease that was deeply Spirit-filled. Whenever she would come to Mass in St. Anthony's church in Potters, there was a calming presence which I felt. As part of the Spiritual Director's training group which I initiated, she was a profoundly deep person whose 'insight' into Spiritual affairs was a gift from God. She is at peace now. She has gone to be with God. Resting in peace.

My Sister, my devoted friend, my Confidant, my Spiritual counselor.

I am devastated today. You are no longer here, and the fact that I didn’t get to say goodbye will always cause me pain, but I am grateful for the memories of 55 wonderful years of friendship and joy. The laughter we shared, the comforting moments of prayer, our baking sessions. There is no greater memory than the sound of your fits of laughter.

You are with me even though you are far away. God has you in his arms, I have you in my heart, in my thoughts and in my life always.

Mrs Scotland “Scottie” was my teacher who later became my dear friend. I treasure the memories of the times and talks we shared. My fond thoughts are of the many Saturdays at her house learning to bake white bread and our talks on God’s love. She was a mentor and a wonderful example of a women of faith. Mary was a very special friend, confident, and spiritual mentor. I thank God, she came into my life when we were both teaching at St. Patrick's School in Barbados. We became close with sharing God's word, praying together for many including our family members.
I learnt to appreciate Mary's wisdom, deep spiritual insights and her love for God and his Mother Mary.
I will miss her telephone calls, her laughter, her joy and her peaceful presence.
May she rest in peace, with the Angels. I know I have an interccessor I heaven praying for me, as I pray for her.
