This memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, Mary Sulewski-Jenkins, from Colts Neck, New Jersey

It is with great sadness that we are announcing the death of our loved one, Mary Sulewski Jenkins of Colts Neck, New Jersey and Harveys Lake, Pennsylvania. Mary passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2016.

Mary was a wife, a mother, a sister, an aunt, and a best friend. She was the fourth daughter of Mary and Joseph (Happy) Sulewski. Mary was a graduate of Nanticoke High School class of 1962 and Bloomsburg State College in 1967. She taught business at Roselle Park High School in Roselle Park, New Jersey, until her retirement. In high school, Mary was a cheerleader for two years, one of which was when Nanticoke won the 1961 basketball state championship. Mary was an “equestrian mother,” traveling to many national horse shows in which her daughter Marisa participated. Mary was an animal lover. She loved telling stories about her dog Brandi and her two talking parrots- Elvis and Lovey. Her stories always put a smile on your face. Her garden was also a topic of conversation. She had more than a green thumb; she had eight green fingers. Mary not only stopped to smell the roses, she’d pick one and give it to you. Mary loved to travel and has been to unique parts of Asia and Europe, such as Thailand, Iceland, and Romania, as well as many other places. Most of all, she loved and cherished her daughter Marisa and husband of 42 years, Evan Jenkins. Their time together is a treasured memory, along with going to the Golden Oldies dances and doing the Polka and Jitterbug.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and brothers-in-law D. Charles Davis, Eugene P. Ziemba, and Harold J. Jenkins.

She is survived by her husband Evan C. Jenkins and daughter Marisa Jenkins, her sisters Sylvia Ziemba, Arline Sulewski, Josephine Sulewski, Lucyle (Louey) Davis, and Zoni DeMarco. Also surviving are sisters-in-law Carol Painter and Rita and Judith Jenkins, and brothers-in-law Gerald Painter, Ron Jenkins, and Robert (Bob) DeMarco, along with many nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be held at Earl Lohman Funeral Home on East Green St. in Nanticoke on Sunday, November 13, from 3:00 – 6:00. The funeral will be Monday, November 14, at 12:00 at the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 at St. Faustina Church on Hanover St. in Nanticoke.
