"Shine On You Crazy Diamond" from Pink Floyd's masterwork -"Wish You Were Here" ...Mat declared this to be his favorite song -second only, that is, to J.S. Bach's Saint Matthew Passion.
Dante's Prayer from Loreena McKennitt's "Book of Secrets". Mat & I listened to this album perhaps a hundred times. Though he relished every track, this one seemed particularly appropriate as the lyric contains the refrain "please remember me"
David Gilmore's "A Pocket Full of Stones" from his solo realese "On an Island". This one has always reminded me of Mat ...it speaks of a man at peace with his mortality who rejoices, sans deity, in the glory of life.
Toge Hachi-Ri from "Lullaby for the Moon" Mat introduced me to Shakuhachi (traditional Japanese bamboo flute) We'd spend hours listening to recordings like this ...while he regaled me with tales of his adventures in Japan!
"Yo Canto" from Los Lobos' "Tin Can Trust" He couldn't get enough of this track. If I were to play it ten times in a row ...he call that "a good start"!
