This website was created in the memory of our deeply loved one, Matthew Ihle, only 40 years old, who was born on February 2, 1971 and passed away on August 24, 2011.
Matt was a life-long resident of Marin County, California; he attended Marin Catholic High School and graduated from San Diego State University with degrees in Political Science and Economics.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Andrea, whom he married on September 16, 2006, a resident of Ignacio, California; by his Father and Stepmother, Norm and Barbara Ihle, residents of Hayward, California; by his Mother and Stepfather, Sam and Jay Jackson, residents of Fairfax, California. He also leaves behind four-legged Casey, a survivor of Hurricane Katrina.
Matt was a true free spirit and gourmand / gourmet; he is already sorely missed by the "Boat People" of the 5-2-0 and words alone cannot desribe the the emptiness left by his passing.
Matt has gone ahead to a place where everyone must go someday and his sudden departure is shocking for us who don't get to see him until then.
We will remember him forever: his boundless generosity, his effusive laugh, a special fondness for all forms of gastronomy and above all his ultra-gregarious fellowship.
Matt, your journey takes you away from the place where we can see and touch you; yet each day we see you in the start of a bright day and at the close of a gentle night when everything is good and right in the world. We miss you, Matt, but not all tears are a sadness; we had you in our lives and we are better people for that.

Years have come and gone, there used to be a restaurant at the bottom of the parking garage @ UCSF and the slowest series of elevators known to mankind. I really don't like the Parnasus campus and there is a waiting area with views across the City toward the GGB and way up to Marin. Every year on his b-day I make my way up the passage from Judah Avenue - up to the student union (the worst smelling onion soup on earth) up another endless flight of stairs, across to the hospital and (yep, another slow elevator) to leave a Costco-sized bag of white cheddar "cheese" flavored snacks. I so totally know that Matt was grinning like a fool.
I remember the gathering @ Deer Park Villa as if it was just yesterday.
So much has changed over the years and I will remember Matt for the man he was: he brought us all together.

Happy Birthday Son.
I miss and love you. I will be seeing you again........ but not just yet.
I hope you are having fun where ever you may be.
Dad
my love first and foremost to his beloved wife and to his parents
to all of you who remember the timbre of his laugh...you were blessed
You who are on the road / Must have a code that you can live by / And so become yourself / Because the past is just a good-bye
Not a day goes by that I do not think of you. Life here goes on and it slowly gets easier. I hold on to the fact that I will see you again one of these days.
You were the best Son any Father could ask for.
I love you,
Dad
But I could look away and you'd be gone...
Matt, thanks for always caring, thanks for always being one of the good guys, thanks for being a friend.
You will be missed.
ciao mio amico

We'll Meet Again
We'll meet again
We'll meet again,
Don't know where,
Don't know when
But I know we'll meet again some sunny day
Keep smiling through,
Just like you always do
Till the blue skies drive the dark clouds far away
So will you please say "Hello"
To the folks that I know
Tell them I won't be long
They'll be happy to know
That as you saw me go
I was singing this song
We'll meet again,
Don't know where,
Don't know when
But I know we'll meet again some sunny day
We'll meet again,
Don't know where
Don't know when.
But I know we'll meet again some sunny day.
Keep smiling through
Just like you always do,
'Til the blue skies
Drive the dark clouds far away
So will you please say "Hello"
To the folks that I know.
Tell them I won't be long.
They'll be happy to know
That as you saw me go,
I was singin' this song.
We'll meet again,
Don't know where,
Don't know when
But I know we'll meet again some sunny day
BBQ
My wife, Tarey, and I had a BBQ last night with two dear friends from the Czech Republic that would have been equal to the side of cow Matt would have cooked at the lake on a weekend night in Spring.
Great wine, good Hawaiian music and a toast under the stars. Aloha nu'i Matt, we had a spirit glass with you.
