I am an old friend of Matt's, and he and I had been out of touch for quite a few years. I just found out he passed away, and I feel an awful sense of loss and sadness. I don't know what happened or why he had to die so young, and my heart breaks for his family.  I had hoped we would one day meet again and reminisce about old times, and I will forever regret not having the chance to do so.

Matty B as he so loved to be called was a beloved father, son, friend, & companion. Matty was born on May 8, 1972 in Santa Barbara Ca, to Eric & Miriam Benson. He was their first born. Later Matt would welcome his little sister Stephanie Benson. Matty was full of life and lived each day to the fullest. Matty was survived by his mother, father, sister, and four children Jacob Micah Benson (16), Aerik Matthew Benson (15), Hannah May Benson (14), & Abigail Mary Benson (3).. Matty loved his children to the moon and back. He was full of life. And most of us know can leave a lasting impression on us. He loved all who came into his life. He had a different way of showing us but he truly had a heart bigger than anyone's I have ever known. You will forever be in our hearts.. Forever loved
