This memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, Matthew Young 62 years old , born on January 12, 1957 and passed away on September 18, 2019. We will remember him forever.

Dr. Matthew G. Young, age 62, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 18th, in Hendersonville, North Carolina. He was born January 12th, 1957, in Franklin, IN, to Pamela and James Young. He was a 1975 graduate of Franklin Community High School, a 1979 graduate of Davidson College, and a 1983 graduate of Indiana University’s Dental School. He married Susan Young on August 10th, 1984, Etowah, North Carolina.

Loving the mountains, Dr. Young made his home, with Susan, in Western North Carolina. Together, with his mother-in-law, Doris, they founded a highly impactful general dental practice that would improve the lives of thousands, for the next three decades with a holistic focus. His passion for healing lead him to serve as President of the International Academy or Oral Medicine and Toxicology (IAOMT). Matthew also enjoyed cooking, spending time at the beaches of South Carolina, his dogs, sharing time with his sons, Alabama football, and his three grandchildren. Matthew will be remembered as a man who lived with empathy and a passion for healing. He is survived by his wife, Susan; his two sons, Ezekiel, and Caleb; his daughter-in-law, Jennifer and his three grandchildren, Rylie, Tucker, Shiloh; his three sisters, Sara, Mindy, and Carrie; and his loving dog, Tyson.

H & I were saddened to hear the news about Dr Young. As someone who believes in holistic health (yet is always a bit anxious about receiving dental care), I found Dr Young to be incredibly gentle, understanding & extremely skilled.

We will not only miss him as our favorite holistic dentist - but also as our friend.

Our condolences to Susan & the family.
Sending love & comfort in your time of loss

So sorry to hear of the sudden passing of such a dedicated, caring, and joyful man. I became his patient around 3 years ago and was surprised at how happy he was helping his patients. His joyfulness carried over to his wonderful staff. He will be greatly missed. My prayers are with his family and staff.

There are no words. Just found out a few hours ago and we are still in shock.  Matthew was the best dentist we have ever had. And such a wonderful man.  He will be missed. Each day we are reminded how precious life is and how short. Our heart felt condolences to Suzy and family.

Matt was a three generation dentist and friend to our family. To say he will be missed is so true. Prayers for Susie and her family. Matt left a huge hole in our lives by not being with us, as he was for over 33 years.

I am shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the passing of a friend, Matthew Young. We both met professionally as biologic dentists at meetings but became strong friends learning that we were the same age and graduated into dentistry at the same time. Matt’s heart was big, supportive and loving. His warmth and kindness was infectious, always a kind word, a smile and a genuine gracious manner. I will miss him in life on this earth and hope I am able to meet him again in the next. I am sure in his passing he heard these words, “Well done good and faithful servant.”

I just heard the news of Matt's passing. I am so sad for his loss and for Suzi and his children and grandchildren, and his dog he loved so much too. His zest for life was such a pleasure to be around. Tears came as I think of how precious our days are on this earth and how many people touch our lives and are touched by us. Matt was such a nice man and oh how he loved his family and he showed me pictures of you all including the dogs during my dental visits! His commitment to truth, doing the best he knew made him a trusted dentist and a great man.

I am sorry to here of Matt's passing. We were friends/classmates growing up and had many enjoyable memories; especially our "all nighters" poker games in HS. They were classic! I am smiling thinking of them! The picture shows he hadn't changed at all! To Sara, Mindy and Carrie and family I am very, very sorry.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Dr. Young. I enjoyed the opportunity to know him and work for him. He was a very kind man. He loved his family and was so proud of all of you. I know it is a difficult time for you all. When you love a person it is comforting to know that they will always be with you in your heart. I am thinking about all of you and I am here for you if there is anything I can do. May God comfort and be with you during this difficult time.

It is with much sadness that I extend my heart felt condolences to Susie and the family. Dr. Young was such an amazing man, full of love, life and caring for everyone. I find it hard to imagine not seeing him again. He was my dentist, an educator at several events hosted by my company but above that, I felt he was my friend. His vast knowledge of holistic dentistry was amazing and his desire to share it with others worldwide was the mark of a great man.

May you continue your journey in peace and joy. Thank you for being a blessing to so many people.

It was an honour to meet Dr Matthew Young at the holistic dentistry summit held in Sydney, Australia last year. I learnt a lot from him and his legacy will live on in the people he inspired on how holistic dentistry can save lives and we will continue his passion. To all of his family my sincere condolences.

I knew Dr. Matthew Young both as my dentist for 12 years and as a friend and skiing buddy, along with his wonderful wife Susie. His professionalism and skill as a healthcare practitioner were superlative. He was an avid reader and researcher, and kept abreast of the latest scientific findings and best practices which he readily implemented in his office. He solved complex dental problems with aplomb, and had a genuine concern for the best possible outcome for me as a patient and for all of his patients I am certain. I cannot remember a time when he didn't have a huge smile on his face and a kind word on his lips. His zest for life and authentic love for his fellow human beings was infectious, and I will remember his wit, friendship, and stellar example with fondness and appreciation. He was one in a million as far as wonderful people go, and the memory of his positive attitude and presence will forever be cherished by me and all those who knew him. Fly on Matt, your well-deserved journey beyond this world has just begun.

I had the honor of inviting Dr. Matthew Young to be our speaker in the last holistic dentistry summit held in Sydney, Australia last year. I vividly remember how excited he was to come and visit us Downunder and to educate an enthusiastic group of dentists on dental mercury toxicity and hygiene.

I had the pleasure of spending good quality time with him during his stay. He was a true gentleman, down to earth, humble, a loving husband, father & grandfather, caring dentist and a genuine health care practitioner who cared about his patients' well-being.

In running courses, I have had the privilege of meeting lots of people from across the globe. Dr. Matthew Young was a stand out for me as he made me feel like a family member after just a brief meeting with him.

His legacy continues through his work and through the lasting memories he has created with people.

RIP my dear friend

This is a big loss for holistic dentistry and the world, not to mention his friends, family, and colleagues.

Matty became a good friend to me, but all started as a Facebook mentorship and the reason I moved to practicing biologically. He was my mentor and the reason I started Mercury safe practice and my involvement in the IAOMT. We traveled to Bled together for the Europe IAOMT meeting, and planned to be there again together in a couple weeks, along with our other international musketeer Waz.

I consider Matty to be my Yoda and he will be truly missed. I wish only love and peace for Susie and his kids!!

The world lost a truly great man!!

I am truly heartbroken at the loss of such a leader in the holistic dental field and in life. His legacy will live on despite his loss and I am forever grateful and humbled by his generous spirit in helping people. As someone who has been working with the IAOMT and expanding my reach to tell the story of how holistic dentistry can save lives, he was always there to help and for that I am forever grateful and indebted. My deepest and sincerest condolences.

It is with shock and such a heavy heart that I write this. Matt has been my dentist for many years and had been of extraordinary assistance to me during my cancer journey. He was a man of compassion and great knowledge who I came to depend on for good advice and just as good a time as you can possibly have in a dentist's chair. That he left us so suddenly and so soon is so difficult to get my head around. All of my sincerest sympathy goes to Suzi, the kids and grandkids. Matt leaves a precious legacy and many wonderful memories for all of us. I will miss him so very much. May his journey onward be everything his soul desires. ♥️
