This memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, Matthew Withers, 54 years old, born on May 3, 1966, and passed away on March 19, 2021. We will remember him forever.
You would have been 55 today Matt... the piss taking would have certainly already started by now about you being an old bugger and would have surely continued till well after I'd turned 55... wherever you are, keep your foot to the floor... miss you buddy
I m so saddened by this news. We had been friends for many years working throughout the Emirates. Although it's been sometime since we last saw each other I will miss him. Anne and Katie my condolences and deepest sympathy.
Shattered to hear this news! I had a previlage of meeting Matt a few times and he left a great impact on me. Matt was a super humble and understanding human being, a true leader and a role model.
We all will definitely miss you, gone too soon. God bless your soul!
So saddened to hear the news; our thoughts go out to Matt's family and friends. I have had the pleasure of working with Matt over several years - it was always great to do so as he made everything so much smoother.
RIP Matt Angie and all of the Martyn Fiddler Aviation team
A great colleague turned friend over the last 13 years, and one with the same mad interest in music and High End HiFi systems. I truly enjoyed our listening evenings together, discussing the latest vinyl purchases, sound quality, comparing systems and different music genres. Matt was a walking Encyclopedia in music and HiFi a true connoisseur. I will miss those evenings and the concerts in Dubai we used to go to. I am sure others will as well, Chris, Garry and John. Matt was always up for a good Concert. This place will be a bit more boring without you.
I worked with Matt when we were both at ExecuJet and he was a great help in clearly steering often difficult customer request down a logical path. He was always honest and fair and someone you could rely on for helping to steer a logical resolution.
I am sure he’ll be missed by many at DC Aviation and all those at ExecuJet who worked alongside him.
My condolences go out to all his family during these difficult times and all who had the pleasure to know him.
It is so sad and so sudden what has happened. I was looking forward to working with Matthew. Our thoughts are with his family at this very difficult time. He will be greatly missed.
RIP Matt, you will be missed. My deepest condolences to the family and loved ones, esp to Ann and Katie.
You will surely be missed.
Mikhail
Prayers for Matt: "Eternal rest grant unto Matt, O Lord, and let your perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen."
Prayers for the family and loved ones: "I pray that in this time of loss, you'll feel God's love much more and that you'll find your comfort in the presence of the Lord. I pray God pours upon you, His sweet amazing grace, and overflow your heart with peace as you live in His embrace. Amen"
So very sad to here the news of Matts passing. I will miss the fun and laughter that we shared during our time together working in Dubai. He was one of a kind, a total aviation person, true professional but also a genuine friend. I will miss you Matt. My condolences go out to his family and all who had the pleasure to know him. RIP Matt
Words can't describe how sorry I am to hear about Matthew's passing. My heart goes out to his family, friends, and colleagues. Wishing everyone comfort and peace as we remember Matthew.
Our family is absolutely devastated!! There are no words that can ease the pain. Anne and Katie our thoughts and love are with you at this tremendously difficult time x x
Matt and I shared many memories over the 25 years that we were mates. Too many to list but the stand out must be the 4 weeks we spent back in the UK sharing a flat with only 2 beds, a TV and 2 beanbags as furniture. So little at hand yet the fun and laughs we had will remain with me forever.
Whenever we did get back together we used to have a saying the first one to laugh loses, it took less than 10 seconds for one of us to lose!!
RIP my old mucker and wherever you are I can hear you saying those immortal Withers words............................Mmmmmm Cheesecake!
I will start with Albert Schweitzer quote: “The only thing of importance, when we depart, will be the traces of love we have left behind.” And you left so many traces, Matt. You will be greatly missed. My deepest condolences go out to Anne and Katie during these difficult times. Love, Gabriela
I have no words to express my shock and sorrow having learned that you are not among us anymore. It was my honour and privilege to have worked with you - a great man, gentleman, highly skilled professional. With your understanding to all our needs, problems and your great support to our team you was recognised as a LEADER, not simply as a boss. My deep condolences to your family. You always be missed. May your soul rest in peace!
I’ve worked with Matt in ExecuJet and became my direct manager for 4 years. He really is the best manager because he’s nice and kind. He was calm even when under pressure. He will be missed by many especially the people that worked in his team.
Matt's connection with me started out as him being my manager, but over time, he became a friend as well. Great guy overall.
Work-wise, I was privileged to have him as a boss - had all the qualities a good one has, and we had a very good rapport. Additionally, well-appreciated were gestures towards the team such as the weekly bringing of home-made cookies etc. I will especially remember his calm and collected personality, even during stressful times.
Apart from work, we'd also hang out every now and again and shared certain interests. For me personally, the main interest we had in common was our love for certain music genres and bands. We'd often lend CDs to each other, including those of groups he or I never heard of.
One thing he said to me ages ago that I still remember: "Every problem has its solution; you just have to look for it." - part of his positive attitude towards life.
Finally, this tribute would not be complete without mentioning his immense (and well-known) love of cheesecakes!
RIP Matt, you will always be remembered and cherished.
One of life's genuine good guys, easy going, caring and super chilled. As I've been recounting some of the casual chats we would share in your office there is one thought that comes to mind, I have worked with many people over the years but do not always know the names of their partners or children. I never met Anne or Katie but I was well aware of them because whatever we would be chatting about it always came back around to family and the smile and pride that would beam from you whenever you spoke of them. This the memory I will hold of you, a genuine guy who had a moment for anybody and an obvious loving husband and proud father. Our whole team feel a deep sense of loss and miss you. Rest in peace mate from the "Sweaty Sock"
Another beautiful person have left a big hole in our heart. And I want people to know why by describing you ---
M – memories; Maintrol team shared a lot of memories with you, the laughter, the drama, food, dinners, bullying each other and so on.. thank you for all the memories and it will last forever in our heart. A – adviser: thank you for being my adviser whenever I don’t have any answer to my silly questions, work problems or even my life issues, you were always there willing to listen and gave advices despite of being busy. T – thoughtful; whenever you went for vacation, business travel or just a simple day, you will bring souvenir, chocolates, cakes, baked cookies of Anne, donuts from food court just because you knew your team will always say yes to those T – transparent/Truthful: I have no memory of you shouting when you are mad or cursed someone or told bad things about one person (you just turn red whenever you are mad) but instead you told us directly what’s wrong and find the solution to avoid the mistakes and you never left us out when there were issues, you were very transparent in telling us everything. H – humble; you were never our boss but a mentor who thought us so many things not only about our job but also about our lives, a leader who led us to right path and made the team as one and your office was always open for us, for anyone, just stand on the queue and you were willing to entertain everyone. You were never let us get intimidated with you but we respected you and looked up to you. E – encouraging; you encouraged us to do our job properly and to make us a better team player despite of having different personalities and nationalities. you encouraged us to dream big W – witty; you had this way of telling things in very witty ways, that most of the times make us smile. You knew what you were saying, you knew your job inside and out and you are one of the wittiest/knowledgeable persons I knew. And thank you for sharing your knowledge
It will never be the same without you, Matt especially to Anne and Katie. Thank you for coming to our lives. You were a blessing. You will be missed. Thank you.
It is sad that you left us all too early Matt, but you will live on through your wife Anne and daughter Katie. They will continue to share memories of you for years to come. So many will remember you as such a kind, respectful and funny guy. Not forgetting your love of cheesecake! We became friends when we met over 20 years ago overseas through your wife Anne. We will always be there to support Anne and Katie whenever needed. Sleep easy Matt. Lisa & Paul x
Another wonderful soul has left us. I admire Matt as I was working with him in ExecuJet. He always made work easy and manageable for everyone. His smile brightens the mood in the office. His wit is unfathomable. It's like we have a father in the house. His dedication to anything he does is contagious. A kind-hearted and warm soul. You are dearly missed.
You may have left your wife and daughter physically but i am sure they have gained a guardian and a warrior in heaven. May they be consoled in the thought that you are in a better place now. My prayers are with them to overcome this and let your memories live on. Losing a loved one is painful enough so much so with letting go. My deepest condolences to Anne and Katie and the rest of his family.
"We belong to God and to him we shall return." Rest in peace, Matt.

Matt, you just don’t know how grateful I am to you. I knew nothing about aircraft but you trusted me and gave me that once in a lifetime opportunity to work with Maintrol team. You were one great boss! Never in my 6 years of working with you as my boss had I ever heard you raising your voice to anyone of us your staff. You had been extremely patient and understanding. When the time came when I had to leave Maintrol team, you motivated and taught me to believe in my self... I could never ever repay your kindness. Thank you, Matt! Your memories will live forever.
