Really saddened to hear of Matts passing. We went to the Weald School together and had our first jobs when Budgens opened in Billingshurst. We worked Friday night and all day Saturday and our wages were always gone when we had left the Six Bells on a Saturday evening. We borrowed an elderly beige Ford Fiesta one evening and Matt offered to drive to Littlehampton. We were stopped by the police due to having eight people in the car (is that a record? ) and I remember he broke the breathalyser by sucking instead of blowing. Good work I thought as he'd had one or two. The policeman advised him to take 2 trips and we all got back in 100 yards down the road. Deepest sympathies to Matt's family and friends. He was a top fella and I really wish we'd stayed in touch over the years.
