I will truly miss Maude Jennings. She was feisty, she spoke her mind so whatever was in her mind came out of her mouth. I can truly say she was no phony. But I admired her most for her love for Jehovah and her ministry. She always put Jehovah first and was always willing to share the truth with everyone she came in contact with. Looking forward to seeing her in Paradise.

Sister Jennings was an encouragement an inspirational sister to be with in the ministry. No nonsense but full of love. Wonderful person.

For over 35 years Maude has shared my family. To my 3 grands she was "Granny Maude" as she loved to hear them say. She leaves many loving memories in our hearts. Some good some not so pleasant, still we loved her and knew she loved us. I'll never forget the "Old Girl" as I often called her.
A few days prior to her death, she reminded me of that. I loved talking to her, we shared many personal thoughts and Ideas. She will be truly missed by my entire family and I. Sorrowfully submitted.

Grandma personally took an interest, and gave me the desire to Read, Learn, and, the Intellect that I have today. I can not articulate how much she took an expressed interest in my proficiency in Reading. When I was a little boy, no higher than a step stool, She always handed me books, and even took the time to read to Me. She even passed down to Me articles of some of the most dramatic times in American History. She clung to articles for years of when John F. Kennedy, and Martin Luther King were shot then passed them to me when I was able to discern their context. I will always Miss You Grandma. I Thank You from the bottom of my heart for all of the ways you molded and shaped me in Life. Love Always,

Greg Jr.

Her Life

Obituary

May 21, 2020
Maude was born to the late Andrew and Evelyn Averette on November 8, 1930 in South Hill, Virginia. Maude was educated in the Philadelphia School System. She was employed as a seamstress at the Quartermasters and could “eyeball” any article of clothing and sew it without needing a pattern. Maude had many fine qualities and her expertise was beyond measure. Maude enjoyed playing Pinochle with her family and friends. She was a licensed Cosmetologist and owned a hair salon for many years in West Philadelphia. Maude dabbled in home improvement and her cooking skills were unmatched. She took great pride in preparing an infinite amount of gourmet meals. Her family fondly remembers her famous German Chocolate Cake, Chicken and Dumplings, Sour Cream Pound Cake, platted Chitterlings, barbecue sauce she prepared from scratch, etc.

Learning about Jehovah’s principles and bible teachings were instilled to Maude by her dear sister Virginia. Initially, Maude was opposed to hearing about bible truths but Virginia persisted. In time, Maude started attending Christian meetings and made the truth her own. She dedicated her life to Jehovah God and was baptized on January 26, 1976. Virginia will be overjoyed to see her sister again knowing Maude developed an intense love for Jehovah and was faithful until the day of her passing. Maude entered full time service as a Regular Pioneer on September 1, 1985 and continued that privilege until her sudden death on April 25, 2020. Maude looked forward to the annual celebration of Jesus Christ’s death. She made it a personal goal to invite as many as possible to the Memorial. On one occasion, thirty persons of interest attended the Memorial as Maude’s guests and filled two rows at the Kingdom Hall. Throughout her years of evangelizing, Maude was instrumental in assisting many to publicly symbolize their dedication to Jehovah God.

Maude is survived by her husband Ernest Jennings. Sadly, Maude’s son’s Gregory, Sr. and Ray Rogers preceded her in death as well as her grandsons Andrew and Victor Rogers. Maude is survived by her son Ronald Rogers, her grandchildren Gregory, Jr., Marvin, Rachelle and Brandon Rogers and Aja (Scott) Snyder. Her great-grandchildren Najae Rogers, Zion Rogers-Martinez, Amya Sopp, Hailey Rogers, Sophia, Olivia and Nathan Snyder.Maude was predeceased by her siblings:Herbert, Mack, William, Andrew, Claude, Virginia, Roslyn and Ellen. Maude is survived by her brother-in-law Johnnie Moore and a host of nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Lisa Benson-Jackson.

It was a pleasure and privilege to sit next to this gem of a sister in Pioneer Service School last year. As the eldest student in our class I was amazed that although her textbook wasn't filled with notes, and her tablet password escaped her memory, she never missed a beat. She had her Bible and kept pace sharing encouraging comments and wisdom from all her years as a faithful servant of Jehovah. I will NEVER forget how she brought 2 pairs of shoes for our class picture day. She had her comfy pair for the day and her sparkly peep toe wedges for the picture. Too fancy!
May our dear sister rest in Jehovah's memory until he calls. Rev. 21:3,4 ❤

Will miss Maude, Have known her for a long time.
I enjoyed being in service with her but sometimes
she would frighten me the way she spoke with
house holder,If they say they were not interested,
she never took no for an answer but ask, Why Not?
And they close the door, She would stick her foot
in and stop the door from closing and make the
person talk with her.I would tell her—- Woman,
you are going to get us killed.Along with the scary
times we always had good conversations.
See you soon my dear sister
