Maureen grew up francophone in Quebec City, moving to Ontario in the mid-nineties to continue her career and improve her English, both of which she accomplished with her customary dedication.  Maureen and Joachim met in Muskoka and built a life together.

Maureen loved to be surrounded by family and nothing pleased her more than cooking for a house full of kids and friends.  Her homemade gravlax was a special favourite.  Family life centred around Maureen and Joachim's second home on the lake in Gravenhurst where they hosted many family events.  Every year they tried to visit family in Germany, making stops at other destinations on the way there or back and always enjoying the days spent on the beach in Ibiza.

Maureen was also a dedicated employee and respected colleague.  After several years with Starber, Fritz Companies and UPS SCS, Maureen joined the Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association (CIFFA) where she made a significant contribution.
