Maurice “Mo” Leduc passed away on April 27, 2021, at the age 79 with the love of his life Evelyn, of 56 years, by his side, in Port St. Lucie, Florida. He was still delivering jokes and one-liners until the end. The only surprise in his passing was that he always found a way to bounce back because he knew we weren’t ready for him to leave.
Mo was born in West Warwick, RI to Albert and Anita Leduc who preceded him in death. After attending LaSalle Academy for high school, he graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a degree in Chemistry. He began working at American Hoechst (later Celanese Corporation) in 1964. As Environmental Manager there, he continued to take care of others by always doing the right thing, ensuring community and environmental safety advocating for hazardous waste control legislation. He worked tirelessly to advance protective legislation through engagement with elected officials in RI State government, and the United States Congress. After moving to NJ, he continued to work until his retirement in 2007.
Most of all, Mo loved being with family and friends, telling stories and talking about life and current events. He passed along his love of chemistry, music (especially jazz music) and blueberries to his two children; David Leduc and wife Cynthia of Hingham, MA; Steven Leduc and his wife Michele of Mendon, MA; and seven grandchildren, Andrew, Cameron, Caroline Leduc and Christopher, Matthew, Jonathan, Christina Leduc.
