I just watched all the pics, wao!!! really timeless. Seeing this wonderful man Sir Maxwell Egbukole, reminds me of his peaceful, gentle and kind disposition. Very hospitable, treated me and other youths then when we hanged around Egbukoles in Egbu after the semester, as sons.

I thank God for his life and legacies. God will continue to bless his linage in Jesus name.

Daddy's life was greatly decorated with the grace,mercy & help of God.In all the time I've known his family,not once was I told that he was ill in a hospital.So,When He turned 89yrs last year,I said to myself that I might be witnessing for the first time,someone turn 100yrs in a few years time; but unfortunately,that was not to be.

All the same ,We appreciate God for his goodness that we saw in your life.

We have known our Uncle Max for about all our lives. The elder siblings amongst us children of Christiana Akagha (Victor, Patience and Edwin), began to know Uncle Max. as far back as during his wedding to our mother`s younger sister (our Aunty Abigail – fondly referred to as Aunty Abi) during the ending of the Nigeria/Biafra civil war, when they performed roles as page boys and flower girls, throwing confetti at rehearsed intervals during the wedding procession. We knew Uncle then as that very tall handsome dark complexion man who spoke softly and very little at that time and was now becoming our favourite uncle. With the passage of time, we got to know him much more, and better as a very gentle and peaceful man with incredibly wise counsel.
We have been opportuned to spend some holidays at his home in Egbu and observed and interacted with him at closer circumstances. We have also had the privilege of his company in London, United Kingdom, on his visits to the family there, and when we celebrated with him his 80th Birthday, while in London. His calm, reassuring and peaceful countenance, words of wisdom and devotion to the Christian Faith was shining through and touching the lives of us all that knew him, and indeed to anyone else that encountered him.
We, as young adults have in the past admired some of the attributes of our Uncle Max and which we now as parents, have come to appreciate even better.
Some of these attributes summarised include;
• Calmness and patience
We never saw or heard Uncle Max raise his voice at anyone in anger. We were all very comfortable in his presence. Whilst growing up, we have observed that some serious family issues have been settled in his presence and with his influence during indoor meeting with everybody coming out calmly and satisfied
• An excellent family man
Uncle Max was devoted to his family. He shared a special bond with his wife, our aunty Abi. They did everything together and generally enjoyed each other's company, as a perfect couple. On several occasions uncle Max would delay having his meal until his wife was home and ready to join him with the meal. He regarded all his nieces and nephews as members of one large family and treated everyone equally and as with his own children. He was always impartial, and never took sides in a dispute against anyone. 
• Devotion to his Faith
Uncle Max was a man of faith in God. What other evidence of this, than as a Church Knight of Saint Christopher. The influence of this devotion is passed on to most of his children, who are very prominent in their places of worship.
As children we found his very tall stature quite intimidating whereas when he spoke, he was very gentle, reassuring and peaceful. He never failed to give anyone a piece of advice or two on any occasion.
As a teacher, Uncle Max was vast in knowledge and very eloquent. He was physically and emotionally quite strong as a man and even so till his old age, and still stood tall.
He often said that for anyone to be lying in a hospital bed was as a sign of laziness. Uncle Max had never fallen ill, not even known to have had a headache. He was indeed blessed with very good health.
Till this time of death, Uncle Max remained a very devout Christian who never slacked with his religious church activities and would advise us to take the word of God seriously.
Although we will miss you uncle Max. as you depart in glory, to the bosom of our Lord God, but we will be consoled by the huge legacy you have left behind you.
Rest in the perfect peace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

I and my family send our sincere condolences to my auntie Abigail and her children for the transition to eternal glory of her loving husband and awesome father Sir Maxwell Egbukole. Sir Maxwell was a great in law (Oke ogo anyi ejieme onu). We will miss you a lot, though we need to weep your loss, you still dwell in that safe place where no storm or night or pain can reach you.

It is with deepest sorrow and sadness that I write this tribute to you Late Sir Maxwell Egbukole, Uncle Max; as we affectionally called you. Sir Maxwell, you were a morally principled leader who believed in justice, fairness, and equity. A gentleman Knight of the Anglican church, and was married to my Aunt, Aunt Abigail, which marriage produced 7 wonderful and well-rounded children, my dear cousins.

I still recall pleasant memories of your visits to the Okere compound and how we always looked forward to your visits. You were caring and well respected by all that interacted with you. I recall my last visit to Emii, on my way back to Owerri, I insisted on stopping in at Egbu, despite how late it was, to greet you and Aunty. We ended up spending over 3hrs talking and laughing, with you cracking jokes in your usual quiet manner.

You touched so many lives by your selfless and countless acts of kindness, always giving and never expecting any favors in return. Your dedication to a cause set you apart. For every institution you worked for, you laid the path for others to succeed.
The benefits of your hard work is a living testimony for so many young men and women you took under your wings at a personal and professional level.

Death is inevitable, it is a journey that everyone must take, however; your death came as a surprise. We did not expect it and wish we had more time to continue to appreciate you.
Uncle Max, you were, and will always be an inspiration to myself, the entire family and anyone who worked with you..


While we mourn today, we also take comfort in the fact that your mission on earth has been fulfilled. God in His infinite wisdom knows best. May Our Lord comfort and sustain your family, your wife, and children now and always.

Tribute to late Prince Maxwell B. Egbukole

It was with great shock and sadness that I received the news of Maxwell’s passing on Tuesday March 09 2021 through our Lord Bishop GE Okafor.

I never knew or heard that Prince Maxwell was ever sickly and as such his death was rather very unsettling to me. Maxwell and I grew up together and enjoyed very good relationship.

Prince Maxwell was epitome of humility and integrity; known to be hardworking, honest, sincere, and of great self-control. He made a successful career in the teaching profession, happily married to Lady Abigail Egbukole and blessed with seven (7) sons to the glory of God.

As a credit to Prince Maxwell, these children live with their wives happily and with great understanding. Prince Maxwell was a good Christian who lived and practiced the highest degree of Christianity, little wonder he was knighted in the order of St. Christopher.

Prince Max Egbukole was a worthy and respected member of the now defunct Cathedral Expansion Committee for the eleven (11) years it took to rebuild and expand the Cathedral Church Of All Saints Egbu to its present state of beauty, splendor, and grandeur. He withstood the weather, shine or rain, for all those 11 years to attend committee meetings and execute assignments under his responsibility.

Prince Sir Maxwell was born into a Christian family, lived a Christian, and died a Christian!

We heartily condole with his wife, children, and grandchildren and pray for his most gentle soul to rest in perfect peace.

A TRIBUTE TO A SPECIAL UNCLE!

Sir Maxwell Egbukole! The news of your death came as a shock because I never thought of it. But within few minutes, the reality came to me that it was not death, but passing on to glory to join all the other faithful departed. Therein lies the peace in our hearts today.

Nda Mark (as we fondly called you), you were one of the first few uncles I knew as a young child. I saw true and faithful loving care in you then, and it never changed throughout your lifetime. You were close to our parents till their last breath; you stood by them like a true brother indeed, even after their death, you still played your role faithfully to the end. Of a truth, uncles like you are rear to find.

For lack of words to describe you, I can only but say that – 'NDA MARK WAS A GOOD MAN INDEED'.

My humble Tribute to late Uncle Sir Maxwell Egbukole
  It was with great shock and ofcourse deep grief and sorrow receiving the information about the passing to glory of our beloved Brother, Uncle, Father, Husband and Grandpa, Sir Max Egbukole, an information I least expected as at time of delivery.
  Uncle Max, as testified by all who knew him was a man of integrity endowed with infinite wisdom and humility that was displayed so selflessly with absolute passion. Wonderful personality he really was.
   My cordial relationship with uncle Max can never be overemphasized. He was just next to a father. He took I and my siblings on board his young family when our Father, Mr Victor Egbukole of blessed memories passed on 1978. He watched over our up-bringing relentlessly . He monitored and mentored every steps. His advices were always positive oriented and positive results were never farfetched. Negativity had no place in his lexicon, even as a veteran teacher / lecturer and ofcourse a disciplinarian, I never witnessed him raise voice or hands on us or his children.
  Uncle Max was a rare gentleman no doubts, words are lacking to express much actually.
   Uncle Max no doubt lived a fulfilled life, and the faithfulness of God manifested in all aspects of his life achievements : his career, his marriage, his children, his family and his spiritual relationship with God and humanity. His countless blessings are thus well deserved.
  God dictates and no questions whatsoever, but we take solace believing Uncle Max has secured a befitting place in His bosom awaiting Eternity, the Christian faith
  My condolences to us all, the Egbukole Royalty Dynasty, an Icon is lost, and to the immidiate family, I pass across alongside siblings our heartfelt feelings of grief. We are bereaved. May Uncle Max soul rest in perfect peace. Amen!

Your timeline attests that you were truly a teacher and instructor to

Sadly we did not get to meet while alive, but from the testimonies from all your children - Pastor Okechukwu Egbukole to be specific, it shows that you were a Godly, compassionate, energetic and enterprising man who lived a purposeful life to the glory of God and that of humanity. We take solace in the fact that you lived a life of selfless service in the Church, your families and the entire community.

And to Pastor Okechukwu and his siblings left behind by Papa, I want you to take solace in the fact that Papa came to this world alone and he has left alone. This is the inexorable law of nature and we have to muster courage, strength and fortitude to accept the will of God as believers. Believers like Papa does not die, they only transit from mortality into immortality. I pray to God to bestow on all the beloved ones Papa left behind strength, energy and comfort needed during this period of Papa's demise. It is my prayer that God Almighty will give peace and tranquility to the departed soul of Papa.

The name of the Lord will be honored, souls will be brought into the kingdom of God through the celebration of life of Papa both before, during and after the funeral ceremony.

It took us time before we could pass the news of your demise to my dad Mr julius Odom, who was shocked and surprised and never believed you were gone till he called my aunt in egbu to confirm your demise, since my childhood you have been a true friend to my father cos I have always seen you in my house. You are a good man, meek and gentle, I remember the day I came to visit your home for the first time, you gisted me and told me things that have helped me grow academically, Rest in peace man of integrity, rest in peace great man till we meet on that glorious day.

Tribute to God

In 1993 I got to meet Npa Maxwell Egbukole, in my year 1 at FUTO.
A gentle man to the core, that threated us as his sons. One culture I will never forget was the consistency of waking everyone by 6am everyday for morning devotion. It was a new lesson to me then.
A very consistent man that loves God both in good times and in challenging times. A role model for fatherhood.

Farewell, Sir Maxwell Benjamin Egbukole (KSC). May God's perpetual light continue to shine on you as you lie in wait in a calm and undisturbed repose. May it please our God and father of celestial lights whom you served to bring you back when He makes all things new. A time in the near future when all who have hoped in God will breath His warmth and purity. An endless time when wickedness will be in chains and swords rust forever.
