Mayin was often serious, but had a subtle sense of humor. When we went to Peru, we were a diverse group. My sister and I are light skinned blondes, as are my daughter and her husband. My sister adopted two children, who have some hispanic genes and of course Mayin was Chinese American. One guide looked at us and asked how we were related, since we were close knit and personal with each other. "We're cousins" my daughter said, indicating Lisa and Jon, who of course do not resemble our family biologically. "Cousins?" the guide asked aloud, looking from one to the other in surprise. "We're sisters" Mayin continued. "Sisters?" the guide asked incredulously, looking first at Mayin, then at Nancy and I. Nancy and I nodded, "Yes sisters" we smiled. "Cousins, sisters?" the guide repeated, looking at our multiethnic group as though we had told him we were Martians. And we were; sisters in Christ.

My Aunt Mayin was one vivacious and courageous woman! Always inspirational with a zest and passion for everything she set her mind to, she knew how to follow her heart.  She lived passionately, deeply cared for others and helped innumerable patients in her line of work.   Her firey enthusiasm and loving presence will never be forgotten ... miss you <3 Tia Mayin <3
Love always,

Charlotte
