Whenever I think of Mel, I always remember his vast talents.  He was a remarkable athlete, a wonderful coach, a dedicated father and husband, but he was way, way more than that to us who knew him well.  Mel was a poet of distinction.  He was a wonderful photographer.  His positive attitude was infectious to those around him.  And, best of all, he was kind and generous.  I spent countless hours coaching with him, working together in the darkroom on photo projects, sitting in the living room with him and Barb drinking a cold German beer, and just hanging out at school were we were such close pals.  He is missed by many.  Count me as one who loved this man deeply!  And, his wife Barb.....she is a gem and has done a wonderful job with her two beautiful kids.
