Melvin was born May 21, 1961 to the late Clide and Ruby M. Render of Greenville, Georgia.

  He was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Jones, LaGrange, Georgia.  

Melvin served in the United States Army for 5 years.  He was skillful with his hands and could build anything and fix anything.  He was a person who never met a stranger and always stood willing to help anyone he could.
