Mrs. Merete Tenna Akwiwu (Lolo of Denmark), age 67 died on Saturday, October 01, 2011. She was born May 17, 1944 in Ringsted, Denmark.

She moved to London to work as a young adult where she met her husband: Engineer Chimezie Akwiwu (RIP).

They spent a few years in the U.K where Chinyere and Okem were born and in 1973 they moved back to Nigeria where Chukwuemeka and Ikenna followed.

Mrs. Akwiwu became the Manager of Aba Sports Club which was one of the very popular Sports Club in the then Imo State (now Abia State).

As a member of the Association of Women Volunteers she was involved in working with various charities some of which were the Remand Home, The School for the blind and the Ogbor Hill Orphanage to mention a few.

During this period she managed the offices of the AWV which was working in partnership with Pathfinder International. In 2002, Mrs. Akwiwu founded Merlitz Nigeria Limited.

She loved travelling and visiting her grandchildren and as a keen golfer she played in almost every part of the world that she visited.

Due to the situation in Aba she has been in London since 2009

She is survived by her 4 children: Chinyere, Okem, Chukwuemeka and Ikenna Akwiwu, 2 daughters-in-law and 10 grandchildren.
