My son was in the Q course with SSG Walker. As an Army veteran and parent it saddened both my wife and me to hear about SSG Walker's passing. Our hearts are with him and his family, and we are thankful for his service and his time on earth. We hope his family understands that his life was valued beyond just those that knew him, and we hope it brings just a bit of solace to know that there are many people that are truly grateful for his service. "Well Done, Be Thou at Peace," SSG Walker.

Micah Walker and I met in college and it was a friendship that formed effortlessly. It's hard to write any of this in past tense because the reality of his passing is still hard to accept. From the moment we met, he was a bright light wherever he went and always ready with a joke and a smile. During a hard season with my family, Micah would schedule "hot chocolate therapy" with my sister and I. We would meet, grab hot chocolate, and he would listen to us and often offer support or advice. He started as a stranger in a college class but over the next four years he transformed into a friend and confidant.
Micah was an incredible man of God and it showed in so many areas of his life. Getting the opportunity to serve in South Africa with him one summer, was a memory I will never be able to forget. He was truly passionate about saving the loss, through ministry and later through the military. Though Micah and I lost touch with one another, he truly left a mark on my life and helped me to become a better person.
My thoughts and prayers are with Cori, the kids, his parents and siblings.

Micah was one of my "adopted" little brothers. Our paths crossed for a brief span of time back in 2010 when both at a rather crazy Bible school in Texas. Even then, and I suspect ever since you met Jesus, you had a firey tenacity to share His name with as many people as you could! It shouldn't have been a surprise that you then went to South Africa as a missionary...and met Cori, and you continued to serve the Lord together for several years. And then you chose to serve your country as well!
You challenged us to live better and strive to be the best example of Christ's love to everyone around. This send off is bittersweet. It came far, far to soon. My heart aches for your family, Cori and your kids. You are loved and will be missed by many!!

And yet...i can just imagine Micah telling us what Aslan said in "The Last Battle," "Further up and further in!"

Micah Walker was an amazing man. To hear the news about this tragic loss left Bailey and myself speechless and heart broken. Although heaven gained such a mighty warrior, it’s not easy to say “see you soon” here on earth. I had the privilege to meet Micah for the first time on my first missions trip to South Africa in 2012. He played a huge roll in my decision on becoming an intern. Through one on one conversations, and him presenting the intern video in the back room of the cottages on a tiny projector to the song, “Best Day of my Life” I knew some of the best days of my life God had planned for me were in South Africa. Micah was very proud of that video too! When Micah spoke about what God was doing in his life, and the lives of the people he encountered, it was the definition of the Bible leaping off the pages! It was so encouraging, so much so, it sparked a passion in me and I dedicated 2 years of my life to Johannesburg, South Africa. Wouldn’t you know it too, I was placed in the department he started, Impact Students! Although my internship did not cross paths with the Walkers’ time in South Africa, they definitely left their mark. Even though I didn’t work with Micah face to face in Africa, it felt like I worked with him in spirit. I was in charge my intern years on taking Micah’s many ideas for student assemblies, and classroom teachings and putting it all together in one curriculum. It was funny, he was much like my dad in the sense that when he had an idea, he wrote it down anywhere and on anything. Luckily because of my dad being the same with his ideas, I was trained in putting ideas together in one format. Micah’s ideas weren’t just ideas, they were notes of passion, precise and well thought out ways to present the gospel to these students. It was done and written in such a way that you knew it was ideas from his personal and intimate relationship with Jesus. The last time we saw the Walker family was in January of this year. I will forever cherish the moment of our reconnecting after many long years, seeing both Micah and Cori with all their little ones! I remember Micah being so thrilled for Bailey and I being freshly married. His face lit up as he encouraged us in saying that marriage is absolutely amazing! There is no question about it, Micah was a man after Gods heart, and a warrior; not only in the spiritual, but for his family. Micah has left his mark in so many individuals lives, and across nations. As Bailey said when we prayed for the Walker family, he was greeted with the Fathers embrace and, “Well done, my good and faithful servant”. We will see you soon Micah! Give Jesus a big hug for me! - Jenesis

He loved and led to adventures

August 18, 2021
Micah loved people, and he loved them deeply. He was always ready with questions to get to know someone more, and he didn’t shy away when he learned something difficult about a person – instead, he kept loving them. I saw him do this in ministry in the squatter camps and with the translators that he worked with. Being simply a co-worker was not enough for him; he made a point of investing in other’s lives, and allowed himself to learn from others as well. Through loving others, he created community within the various teams he was a part of, helping others know that they always had a friend in him.

Micah had this knack of talking me into doing things that I probably wouldn’t have done otherwise, and I’m not sure how we didn’t get caught on each occasion. One time, Micah helped Cori, Sarah and I climb over our neighbor’s electric fence to go explore a building that was falling apart. And then he helped us get back to our yard just before the alarm sounded. He also convinced me into following him and sneaking into a resort. We walked around the place hiding our water park day pass wrist bands while trying to look like we blended in. We got strange looks from people, indicating that we didn’t blend in (it may have been the lack of shoes), but no one called us out. On different occasions, he led the way to climbing to the top of a waterfall that was probably off limits at a botanical garden. Micah always led the way to adventure, and now he has led the way to the greatest adventure ever, because he beat us to heaven.

My brother

July 31, 2021
Micah was my best friend and a brother to me. Second to my dad, he was the most influential person in my life. I have so many memories with him. One of my favorites is when we were on an Intern Debrief (a vacation) and we were in a pool and everyone was relaxing, but Micah was off to the side talking to a man and sharing a story about the the Shepard and the 99 sheep, the man gave his life to the Lord, and that story stuck with me for a long time. I’ve lost count on how many times I told that story on ministry, that Micah Walker version on the story.
For me that just shows how much Micah cared about people. He loved people so hard and intentionally whether a stranger or a friend. His impartial love didn’t go without affect. Instead it impacted hundreds of lives with mine included. I will always remember how you loved Brother, and how you fought to invest in every persons life possible.
I love you and your family endlessly bro. I’ll miss you.
