For one who summons up one's faith and chants Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo with the profound insight that now is the last moment of one's life, the sutra proclaims:  "When the lives of these persons come to an end, they will be received into the hands of a thousand Buddhas, who will free them from all fear and keep them from falling into the evil paths of existence."  How can we possibly hold back our tears at the inexpressible joy of knowing that not just one or two, nor just one hundred or two hundred, but as many as a thousand Buddhas will come to greet us with open arms!....

Michael would be 62 today. He lives on in our hearts as a great human being who accomplished so much. He provided encouragement to his family, co-workers, and those of us who had the honor of participating with him at buddhist activities His life still shines on in the hearts of many!

It was truly an honor and privilege to have known Michael as a fellow member of the SGI (Soka Gakkai International or Value Creation Society) a lay buddhist organization. He was witty, and at times with Flo and I very sharp, but at the Buddhist discussion meetings he had a keen ability to put everyone at ease with kind words of encouragement and wisdom. Michael was so humble, that we never knew how accomplished and widely known he had become in his field of costume and fashion design. We are awed how in his later years, he challenged illness and overjoyed he was able have crowning achievements toward the end of his life We are especially overjoyed the Shakespeare theatre is honoring his work in many cities after his passing. Michael will be truly missed and his life lives on in the hearts of many! Thank you, Michael!

I don't how to begin. You have been my greatest pain and purest joy throughout our 38 year "sisterhood". What I will always remember is the laughter because that what we did most and of course chanting. You always amazed me with your brilliant talent, amazing eye for fashion, witty one liners, and fierce style, but more than anything it was your resilience to overcome and succeed when most would have given up. Your initials MAS (more in Spanish) could not have been more appropriate because Dahling you will always be the definition of MORE. I miss ours conversations that always started with Hey Gurl and my response of the same Heyyyy Gurl. Lastly, this memory will forever make me smile Scene: Brunch at The Penisula  Me: please Michael don't approach him  MAS: Chile please I just want to say hi and ask him for a picture  Me: rolling my eyes in the back of my head and turning my seat around  MAS: Excuse me MR. Rapper we laughed until tears rolled down our faces as Mr. Rapper (Chance) politely declined. Rest well my dear friend as you sketch new masterpieces for your next award winning productions. I miss and love you

Michael attended the meeting that was my first visit to CCC. He made sure to purchase a Winning Life for me and the other guests in attendance. We discussed human revolution from time to time over the years & sometimes participated in the same activities. I was always interested in admiring the skillful artistry of Michael's design scetches that he chose to share. It was fun to volunteer & work with Michael on the sewing committee and share the practice.
