                                                             ********************
MICHAEL was born in New York City on January 23rd, 1939. He lived most of his life in New York, Los Angeles, and then in the Palm Springs area. He lived out the last two years of his life near his family in Redding, California.

He attended Boston University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Radio and Television Production.

Michael was born to be an entertainer. He first expressed this gift through his love of music and people. He sang his passion directly to the people around him, touching their hearts in a way that only a true entertainer can do. He wowed audiences worldwide and recorded three albums, including “Michael Allen Sings.” Later in life, Michael extended this tradition of entertaining by being the life of the party, an accomplished story-teller and “the head of the table.” His brother Jeffrey said, “Michael had more friends and life-long ones than anyone I’ve ever known.”

Michael launched his Interior Design career in the 1980’s and designed for luminaries throughout the entertainment industry. He believed that, “A house itself isn’t important… it’s what you do in it and how you give it life. A house is not a home until it is filled with love.” His home reflected that with photos of dear friends and family abundant in every room.

Michael suffered a heart attack on June 1st. He was incredibly well cared for by very capable and compassionate caregivers at Mercy Medical Center and at Windsor Redding Care Center, where he lived. Michael was treated with “Humankindness” at every turn – and his family will be forever grateful. With personal friends over the years that ranged from best friends for over 50 years to celebrities such as Johnny Mathis, Rock Hudson, the Sinatra’s, Bob Crew and many more – some of Michael’s new best friends for the past two years have been the staff and residents at Windsor, especially the “Hole in the Wall Gang.”

On June 12th, 2014 on a full moon, Michael sang his last note in peace and clarity, with his brother at his side. Listen carefully, you might still hear it...

Michael is preceded in death by his mother, Theresa (Teddy) Gluck, and his father, Hyman Gluck. He is survived by his brother, Jeffrey Jon Gluck and his wife, Pam, of Redding, California; his niece, Geneva Foster Gluck of Tucson, Arizona; and by so many good friends that were like family to him.

As you know, Michael loved good food and good company! Friends are encouraged to celebrate Michael’s life by sharing memories of him over a favorite meal with family and friends.

Another cycle complete, around one more time - 78 rounds since that first Birthday occurred in 1939. I visited Tony and Coreen today with 3 roses from you, me and Pam. Thanks to Pam of course - she's good at those things. Everyone misses you dearly. Helen is recovering from pneumonia and sends her love. News of the day is that the original Rosie-the-Riveter is at Windsor. Well my brother, it is time for a celebratory piece of KeyLime Pie! Here's a big one for you...

In your honor as a Celebration of Life, Pam and I along with Helen and Coreen (aka Gracie) went to Champa Gardens for a rousing evening of food, drink, flowers, your picture, stories, memories, merriment and laughter. Did I say how good the food was at your "favorite new restaurant". I even had your Drunken Noodles and our delightful Fresh Rolls. The waitress even remembered you - how could she ever forget!

It was Coreen's Birthday Party too, so of course we had a Key Lime Pie for all, and saved a piece for Tony. The photographers were busy - picture posting soon.

Love you my Brother,

Jeff

Michael --- For your birthday, we had a Party at your favorite restaurant the Rose Garden and it was packed. Just the way you like  it ! We played your CD on the way there, listening to you sing the way only you could. Pam and Helen arranged roses and photographs on our table saving just enough room for the many plates of delicious Thai cuisine. Coreen was with us and drank several toasts in your honor, but she was not drunk, just very happy! It was a grand occasion with Key Lime Pie for dessert. We brought a piece back for Tony. Everyone loves you!

Michael was a favored dance partner when we were in high school together. One especially fond and fun memory I have is of a masquerade party we attended together. Michael's mother and aunt made my mask and we paraded ourselves and the black silk and lace creation I proudly wore, with laughter and much pride as he and I joyfully danced through that memorable night. Thank you, Michael for showing me how to "Lindy" with panache. You knew how to live life in a grand way. Rest in peace, Michael.

I met Micheal in about 1990. He waltzed into my furniture store and basically took over. I loved working with Micheal. (Well, maybe not ALL the time. But it was always an adventure! ) Michael sang for my beautiful wife and I at our wedding in 1994 at Melvins. It was magical. He was such a great performer. I was just reaching out to Micheal to ask for his help on my up coming performances. I am so saddened to see he has passed on. It would have been fun to hear his incredible voice and get his help. As the saying goes.." I could have been a contender". I looks like I missed my chance to talk with him again. I'm always just a little late. I look forward to having him look down and hopefully be proud of me, now that he has a ring side seat! See you again someday,  my friend..;)..

WE LOVED Mike with that special kind of love that is truly from the heart and reserved for life's bestfriend. Since our days at Windsor Redding, we will miss his phrases "I'M SICK OF IT" and "SPIT IT OUT DELILAH" for the rest of our lives.
As friends, the three of us may not have had it all together when we were alone, but when we were together we had it all.
We will surely miss you Mike.

I was fortunate to meet Michael while visiting my aunt at Windsor. Michael shared so many wonderful stories pf his life...I was in awe. I grew up in the desert, so we had something in common, but mostly I just enjoyed listening to his incredible stories. He truly was the life of the party and he will be missed. Michael was a regular in my aerobics class in the early nineties. I absolutely loved having him as a friend. He lit up the room when he walked in and made every class that he attended so fun! I have thought about him a lot over the years because he was such a sweet person and such a loyal friend. His personality was larger than life. I never had the opportunity to hear him sing, but I am sure he did it well, as he did everything in life. Godspeed, my friend!!! I hope to see you again someday.

Michael and I went to Junior High together, and I hadn't seen him for 50 years. When we moved to the desert I went to an art opening and who was there, but Michael. Of course being a spontaneous person I yell out Michael Gluck. Michael looks concerned and turns around to say very quietly, "that is not how I am known here". He also says, "Dale Bederson the gal with the pretty cashmere sweaters growing up." There was an immediate rekindling of our old friendship. Rest in peace and keep smiling. Dale

Alex met Michael when he was eight years old, at camp. He was probably his oldest friend. They reconnected in college and the story is that he got Alex and Herb Millman into Phi Ep at Boston University. They also shared an apt for a time after college. In the 25 years that Alex and I have been married, we have shared delightful evenings with Michael - sometimes with the Katz's, the Millmans, and the Baums - all wonderful old college friends. Michael had a warmth, sense of humor, and sparkle all his own. He was really Mr. Entertainer in every way. Alex and I are so saddened by his years of illness and passing. He was truly one of a kind. Rest in peace.

How can I summarize over 55 years of friendship in a few words. I met Michael the summer I graduated from high school. We both went on to BU and our friendship really started there. Over the many years that followed we were always in touch, had many fun times, many funny times, some sad times, visited each other in LA, Rancho Mirage, New York City, New Jersey and Vermont. He was a part of my family and I was part of his. My kids called him "Crazy Uncle Michael" because he was. We did theater, movies, lots of terrific restaurants, his performances, other peoples performances, we knew each others friends, what TV shows we loved or not.  Michael could always make me laugh and he did that regularly. He went thru my divorce with me and then walked me down the aisle for my wedding to Herb. He was the brother I never had. Herb said when he married me "I didn't know Michael came with the package", but he did. The stories we could tell are amazing, such good times. I have so many memories I will never forget him. He always said we would end up together in a nursing home, well I guess he beat me there. Missing you...........
