Michael Nnamdi Agbakoba's death was a shock. But, I tell myself that it is not how long a person lives but how well and how close to God and the final destination He has set for us. Nnamdi left this world close to his maker and so we are consoled.
Adieu Nnamdi, rest in peace.

We met on my maiden visit to Cincinnati in 2019 and before COVID19 changed our way of living. We chatted in your car on leaving the airport as if we had been acquainted for longer. Sports, especially the NFL was our icebreaker. We talked about the NHL too ( as was to be expected ). In your softly spoken way, we talked about homeland and motherland and what laid ahead. When I showed a liking for the song that played in your car enroute the airport after I had dropped off the rental car, you promised to cut me the CD. This promise you fulfilled when my Anne returned to Lagos. That was you being your caring soul 'Mikey' as I fondly called you.
We did exchange calls and some WhatsApp messages thereafter and even enjoyed some banter during the Superbowl in 2020.
My memories of you are so positively etched on stone brother-in-law.
Fare thee well Michael Nnamdi Agbakoba. Heaven has gained another Angel.

My name is Nnamdi Paul Agbakoba. Nnamdi was a very close cousin to me. Two Nnamdis who grew up as cousins. I was also very close to all his siblings.

I was already resident in Cincinnati when he came to join me, and we had many great moments together - discovering the sights and sounds of Cincinnati, and sharing nostalgic stories of our homeland, Nigeria.

Like yesterday, I clearly remember picking up Nnamdi on weekends from his dorm at the University of Cincinnati, and dropping him back on campus on Sundays, in readiness for Monday lectures.

Nnamdi is the most steady, pleasant, kind, intuitive, and reliable person you could ever meet.

Farewell, cousin. Farewell, Nnamdi, my namesake. And may you rest peacefully in the Lord's Bosom

Rest well gentle giant. I look forward to seeing you on the resurrection morning.

Wow... Sometimes we take things and people for granted - probably because we think they will always be there ...we grew up with Mike (and his siblings) as neighbours in the early seventies in Nigeria - his parents looked out for us whilst our parents studied abroad .. and we had so much fun as children ... Mike ever mischievous and full of personality but with a kind heart ... Really sad to hear this news but grateful to God for a life well lived ..
His Life
April 10, 2021
Born in Lagos-Nigeria, two years before the country's civil war, Michael was often described as a tornado. He would climb every tree, and dive under every bed. It was almost impossible to keep up with all that energy!

As he grew older, he assumed a quieter, deeply reflective persona. He was clearly the most intelligent of all four siblings - a master of mathematics, a connoisseur of both spoken and written word, and had a spot-on eye for the creatives. Most important of all, he was very protective of his family and close friends, and his work ethic was exemplary.

Michael travelled the world, visiting several continents and engaging with people of different cultures. He finally settled in Cincinnati (Ohio), where he started off as a student, and subsequently forged deep family roots in the Mount Healthy community. Nnamdi worked at the IRS for 20 meritorious years! He will always be remembered as trustworthy, kind, straightforward, loyal, funny and loving.

A life so beautiful deserves special celebration. You are invited to help us honour the life of Michael Nnamdi Agbakoba. We encourage you to replace any sadness you may be feeling with your stories, your laughter, and your happiness - avidly sharing your most joyful memories of a life that was lived to the fullest.

It is truly difficult to accept that you're gone, just like that Mike. But accept in the name of the Almighty l
must. You were one of a kind. When l think about you, your passion for fairness, equity and justice l am reminded of without compromise.
I am sure that your early departure is for a purpose that our creator has in mind. That we who are left behind may learn from.
Adieu my brother.  We shall meet again.
