We call him DADDY because he was a father and more. Growing up was so sweet with daddy and his family. He filled our childhood memories with so much love and care. I remember we always look forward to him coming back from work or travel. Daddy always come bearing gifts with a welcoming smile and won't hesitate to correct our wrongful act, with him everyday seems festive. He was loving, caring and so much more. It's so sad hear you are gone daddy. From him we come and to him we shall return.
I pray almighty God strengthen your family and grant them the fortitude to bear the loss. Rest in peace DADDY.

Mr.Omoniyi Abikoye popularly called Baba Dayo, you were not just a friend to my hubby , but a brother, a good friend indeed with true intimacy, love, advice and jokes you shared together.
Death snatched you away by the time you ought to begin to rest for all your meritorious services to man and humanity. According to your friend you worked throughout your life, just for few month to enjoy your stay and togetherness with your family_this happened. To God be all the glory .
I missed your every night jokes with your friend, sometimes I made comments like"Enba MTN powo" (meaning you are promoting MTN sales).
Comments from your friend"se iwo lo pemi"(meaning are you the one that called me?).
Since your departure, things have never been the same with us here but we solace in God who gives and takes.
May He comfort your family and give them the fortitude to bear the irreparable and irreplacable loss.

Tribute to a man of great virtues.
You were endowed with wisdom, humility and patience, always calm at all situations and in handling matters. I never saw you raised your voice against anyone. You were a man of great virtues.
You were like a father to all youths that came your way, facilitating their university education and giving them support and counsel.
A loving father and grandfather. You were a great and valuable gift to the entire family and the community. There is a lot to emulate from your life.
Why death took you so soon is the question I keep asking, but what I know is that you were so sure that you were heaven bound.
We love you but God loves you most. Continue to rest Daddy, in the bosom of your Creator until we meet to part no more.

It's still a big shock to hear that daddy is gone but we can't question the all-knowing God. As a JAMBite in Ilorin, Daddy took me in like his son, was selfless in everything about me and gave me all the support I needed from day 1 through my extra years in school. In him, I saw a reflection of my dad - unwavering love for his family, a big heart for the people around him, a man who loved God, and I felt at home and safe with daddy and his household.

O death, where is your sting. Together with family and friends, I take solace in the knowledge that daddy is in a better place, and that one day we shall meet again, never to part no more. Thank you for giving yourself to our world. Your legacy lives on.

Mr Michael Omoniyi Abikoye.
I met Mr. Abikoye on the 4th of September, 2006, when I joined the service of the National Open University of Nigeria ( NOUN) as Registrar. We became instant friends. He was the epitome of humility.
Mr. Abikoye, as he was fondly called by most of the staff was respected and admired by many.
He contributed immensely to the development of the Registry Department of NOUN especially with his well researched, interesting and educative papers at our in - house training workshops.
He was a Professional Administrator per excellence.
He was loved by many of the staff and was approachable to all staff both Junior and Senior.  He was strict, firm but kind to all. He however did not ‘suffer fools gladly’.
Mr. Abikoye was not just a colleague to me but a friend and brother.
It is very difficult to believe that he is gone.
May his gentle soul find rest in the bosom of our Lord who he served ever so faithfully.
May the Lord comfort and strengthen his wife, children and other family members.

Words are not enough to describe his kindheartedness. He was always ready to assist and guide us when he served at the National Open University of Nigeria. When he left, the vacuum was evident. His legacy lives on. May his beautiful soul continue to find solace in the bosom of the Lord.

Blessed is the memory of Daddy Abikoye. I pray the LORD to comfort the family and keep his promises unto his scion forever.

I missed resuming at my first choice of University, thanks to a WAEC result that included a less favorable grade in English and an excellent GCE result that came later after the school’s matriculation. So, I settled down to rewriting JAMB for another year’s admission. God in his design had Daddy Abikoye in ASCON, Badagry at the time for an executive course. He was one of my sibling’s guardians in Unilorin but oblivious of my university situation.

My parents, who were staff of ASCON, took the chance of his short stay in Badagry to visit him frequently. At best to thank him for being loco parentis to my sibling in Unilorin. One of such visits, he learned of my university situation and asked if my parents had tried my second choice, which he was surprised to hear was Unilorin. Luckily, Unilorin at the time was on strike and had not matriculated his fresh intakes. We would not have given my second choice of university a try but for Daddy Abikoye’s advice. To his credit, he told my parents how to go about it. He connected them to the right people, and ultimately, I resumed in Unilorin a few days to matriculation.

Throughout my time in Unilorin, his home and family warmly received me and my sibling and treated us gracefully. I honor GOD for the blessings Daddy Abikoye was to me and my family. I pray the LORD comfort mummy Abikoye, the entire family, and the friends he left behind.

Adieu, Sir.

TRIBUTE TO A MISSIONARY

The Anglican Church of Pentecost, Tiv Mission Station, Ago Isola was our first place of Divine assignment in the Diocese of Igbomina West.

The major challenge is our place of worship, which by then was a small shed. It was then our desire to have a befitting place to worship the name of our Lord. But it was a reality that the Sunday collection of our members, who are predominantly farmers of the Tiv Tribe can not be enough to start a building project.

After much prayers, it was laid in our heart to start a Mission Newsletter christened PENTECOST@AGO ISOLA. We also wrote many letters of appeal seeking for funds to build the Church in the Mission Centre. Offerings were collected for us during Christmas in our major churches but it was not enough to pursue the project.

I went to the Bishop, pleading for money because the shed had collapsed and we were having service under the shade of a tree. The Bishop then, the Right Reverend James Akinola (now retired) explained the reality of lack of fund in the Diocese to run a project of that nature. But he encouraged us to pray with the assurance that God will send help. I left the office, only to be called the second day that the church had received a donation of FIFTY THOUSAND NAIRA from a child of God. I was overjoyed!

We commenced the work immediately. As the work progresses, we received another FIFTY THOUSAND NAIRA from the same child of God for the Tiv congregation.

Then I asked myself, of what benefit is the building of a church for the Tivs in Ago Isola to this child of God? Why was he doing this? I then concluded that it takes the love of God for a man to stoop so low to give water to the thirsty. Many received the letter from us in Ago Isola and till now it makes no meaning to them.

But this CHILD OF GOD, who never was in the place, received the letter as personally written by God to him and responded to God by giving the best towards the building project. He was a man of peace and a cheerful giver.

His open last assignment on 1st January 2021 was the purchase of 100 pieces of the Diocesan Watchword stickers for the members of the congregation of the Cathedral of St. James, Iludun Oro

Today, that CHILD OF GOD, MICHAEL OMONIYI ABIKOYE is being remembered by what he has done for the LORD!

Today, we join the heaven to rejoice for the triumphant pilgrimage of THE CHILD OF GOD, MICHAEL OMONIYI ABIKOYE who has passed on into glory.

And now Jesus said to MICHAEL OMONIYI ABIKOYE
“… Come you blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world…assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me” (Matthew 25:34, 40)

I was not privileged to have a personal encounter with Baba Abikoye. But i have always observed him from a distance. But I can testify that he was a man given to freely helping people. In 2006, I told Dayo that I wish to enroll as a Tutorial Facilitator at the National Open University of Nigeria. I did, and through the instrumentality of Baba, despite the fact that he has never met me, he got me enlisted as a Facilitator with NOUN.
May his soul rest in perfect peace.
