Michael Scott Corbell, 60, Veteran

Michael Scott Corbell passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 19th, at his home in West Seattle after a long, courageous battle with Lung Cancer. His loving wife Linda was at his side.

Michael was born on May 18th, 1952, and was raised in Seattle's South End. He graduated from Rainier Beach High School in 1970. Michael joined the Navy after graduation and served in the Pacific aboard the USS Abnaki during the final days of the Vietnam War - serving his country was a distinction he was extremely proud of throughout his entire life. Always striving for excellence, Michael built a career as a Commercial Property Manager and, at the pinnacle of his performance, chose to teach the Principles of Real Estate and Property Management at North Seattle Community College, shaping the lives of the younger people, a privilege he was very proud of.

Michael had an avid interest in history and, more than anything, loved talking about our family heritages, spending time with his wide circle of family and friends. Known as "Scott" by his siblings, he was a member of a very close family and is survived by his wife, Linda, his son, Michael David, step daughter, Deborah (Jason) Mallett, and his brothers, Ron (Martha), Randy (Debbie), Bob (Peggy) and Brian. Michael was also very close to his in-laws, Gary and Anita Connor, Becky (Steve), Patty (Marty), Sue (Bob) and his many nieces and nephews. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Wes and Barbara, his sisters, Kim and Rori, and his sister in law, Helen.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Henry Kaplan and his staff at the Swedish Cancer Institute for the wonderful care given to Michael. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested in Michael's name to: Kaplan Cancer Research Fund c/o Swedish Foundation 747 Broadway, Seattle, WA 98104.

Our Life - By Linda Corbell (Wife)

My Dearest Michael,

Who knew all those years ago when we first became friends working at 600 Broadway, that you would finally ask me out on our first date June 6th, 1997 and we married on December 6th. We were able to spend 15 years together, and like everyone else, we had joy and sadness along the way.

When we were first told you had Lung Cancer, you said you were going to fight it, and that you did for almost 11 years. All the time still working hard, and loving the time we spent with Family, as that was so important to us.

You loved to teach everyone you talked to about History, and the Family Heritage was so important for you to be able to pass on.

I know you are healthy again and happy being with the ones who went on before you.

Thank you for loving me and telling me so everyday. You would always thank me for taking care of you, but you took care of me too.

We are having your celebration of Life where our life as Husband and Wife first began. I Love and miss you so much and know that we will see each other again someday.

Love always and Forever

Linda
