Her Life

Michelle - In Memoriam

October 23, 2012

In August 2012, Michelle Newell Burry died suddenly and unexpectedly, at the age of 48.  She leaves behind many people who loved her and will always miss her deeply.

Michelle grew up in the Washington, DC area. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Mary Baldwin College; Legal Assistant Certificate from Georgetown University; and eventually her Real Estate License.  She was bright, hardworking, and multi-talented, and she never gave up in the pursuit of her dreams.

Michelle Burry was someone who stood out in a crowd.  Her outward beauty radiated, although she always seemed to be a reluctant beauty.  There was just so much more to Michelle on the inside.  She was strong, well-read, intuitive, and had a wonderful sense of humor.  She was also tender, sensitive, loving, and caring.

Perhaps it is Michelle’s tender side that will be missed the most.  It was her willingness to help.  It could be the dear cards she sent in the mail saying that you were “special,” or a book she sent to help you along in life.

Despite all her talents and accomplishments in life, Michelle’s gentle nature and vulnerabilities always remained apparent to those who knew her the most; these were the qualities that made her even more endearing to those who loved her. To her credit, throughout her life, Michelle Burry always sought one of the most basic of human needs:  the desire to be loved.  And she was.

At the height of her career as a licensed Real Estate Agent, Michelle thrived and felt that she had found her calling.  When economic times took a downward turn, Michelle pressed on and never gave up.   At the time of her passing, she had been working as a Financial Analyst for almost 3 years.

Michelle Burry was a person who loved and was loved. Her laughter always warmed our hearts, and we will never forget her.  Go then merrily to heaven, Michelle, and may you rest in peace. You are loved.
