Thanks To You All

October 1, 2012

Thanks to you all, for sharing your stories of my Beloved Brother.

Michael, known to you all as Michl ,  He as I remember him, use to always give me the BLUES in capital letters, but there was strong Love betweeen us, not just myself, but all of the Twitty family. Michl, was not a big Family get together type person, but more of a quiet intimate socializing type. Strange boy,I use to say.
Michl, when we got older, we got really close. Michl would invite my Nephew Derrell, and myself to visit him at Willmington College, here in Ohio. We would catch the Greyhound bus there, with thoughts of getting messed up, and hanging out with my older Brother. He always showed us a good time, could'nt wait till the next time we would get to enjoy each others company. It has been almost 17 years ago to the date of his passing that the last time our paths crossed. With the sincer Friendship of his Endeared Friend Peter,,,,, Jude, we were reunited,Octoberfest weekend. That day, was the 21st of September, 2012, a day that will live in in my heart forever, because he passed from this life on the 20th date,2012, almost the last day that we the family saw him. I, and the family are really upset that we were not part of our Brothers life, not because of us, but Michl's choice. There was nothing we could do. He chose to live his life without Us,,,,,,,,,But, the Good from this is,he touched your lives, which I am sure you all touched his. I could go on to tell funny stories about our Boither, but I will save them till I hope one day we will all meet in his name.....Michl,Michl, Michl,,,,Our Loved One.

Thank you all, Love, Tim his youngest Brother, and family.God Bless all .

CURRY CHICKEN

September 27, 2012

Mike, always asked if my Wife cooks Curry Chicken and wanted to taste authentic Curry Chicken.  We did not dissapoint him.  He enjoyed his Curry Chicken so much I had to hide my own from him that day.

But there was a certain kind of compulsion that made you want to share with someone like Mike.  His soul was pure, he always said hello, with the biggest smile he could offer.

Mike was one of the few persons that you come across in life, that even when they are not around, their impression stays with you forever.

You will be missed, but never forgotten.

Jack is getting used to his new home; surrounded by lots of love including 3 boys, a rabbit, a gecko, and other family and friends.  His days of quiet and calm are replaced with clamor and chaos.

I played Michl in chess probably hundreds of times, and ran into him occasionally on the 7:58 from Port Chester to Harrison in the morning, but never once did I see him without a baseball cap on his head. I’m happy to see from some of these photos that it was removable after all!

My story about MichI

September 25, 2012

Mike always gave me the respect of calling me one of his great students. Because i always would remember every little detail he would teach me about chess. when ever i would mess up he would say "Are you going through the things i have taught you" (extending his hand) "RUN, BLOCK, TAKE, LET TAKE".... There were times i just wanted to play and would get frustrated because Mike would always want to teach. Till i shut up and listened. When i started to listen was when i started to break Mike's number one rule that he taught me, which was, "Never beat the teacher".... But he actually enjoyed the challenge.

I think one of the things i will miss most about Mike besides his love for Chess. Is his sense of humor. I would love the holidays at UMG because you can always count on Mike's jokes. His jokes were always so funny because Mike would say them so seriously. And you would look at Mike, "like for real" and he would laugh but it was great sense of humor. I havent met anyone with a sense of humor like his. Mike would never be a man to anger. I would always talk to him about my issues because he always had an honest opinion. He would always start by saying, "this is only my opinion, regardless you will do as you please".

Another thing i will not forget about Mike is his love for food. He loved to eat. He adored my mothers cooking. When ever i would buy food and had lunch from my mother i would always give it to Mike because i know he loved it. Whenever we would order food. Mike would always say its good but it's missing SALT. We always had a joke here at UMG because when ever we would be eating and Mike was there he would say, "Add some Salt to that" or "Do you want Soy sauce with that". hahaha, it got to a point that we would say it before he even thought of it. He enjoyed the humor we made with him about it. November we would always do a BIG lunch at UMG just the warehouse guys and I. Mike would always include me in the guys events. Mike made a great chili. He loved ricearoni but he would invent his own style into it. One thing Mike also loved was Cosco's whole chicken. We used to joke and  say "A WHOLE ONE". He enjoyed many different types of foods.

Mike's heart was a very sincere one. His love for others was beyond belief. Even if he didnt think you were all up there in the head he still respected you and would do sincere things. For example on co-workers birthdays, Mike would go out of his way and buy a birthday card for that individual. You would ask but Mike why did you buy this when you didn't have to. He would say "Well I wanted too". You had to respect it and not question it. He was a man full of great intensions. Always would try to find a system that works for everyone. But he would always say, "My style at work on how it makes me efficient   , may not be your style, so whatever makes you feel comfortable and makes things easy for you, GO for it"

Mike will truly be missed but one thing is for sure is that his memory lives on in all of us. May He sleep in peace as we know he is in a place where there is no more pain and suffering, for he sits next to the one that gave it all to us. Now mike can breath freely as he would always say, "The sweet breath of LIFE", God bless you Mike.

Lottery

September 24, 2012

Mike loved playing lotto and when I would see him filling out his tickets I would always joke that I saw numbers floating around his head like in "A Beautiful Mind". He was a mad scientist with the tickets and I couldn't help but always remind him of the odds and that he was nuts and was wasting money. He would then look up with a big ole grin and stick it right back to me by saying, " Brian, you know you are right... by the way, hows that Facebook stock of yours doing?"

I encouraged Michl to paint things that were recognizable, he did not like it, thinking he was selling out.

New Years Eve 1989

September 22, 2012

Michl, Jude (Pete) and Stephen.  We hid the booze in the Express Mail envelopes, shared the New Year with one million of our closest friends in Times Square.  Later Michl shared his bottle with the homeless, priceless . . .  The evening wasn't complete without some of us falling in the hedges and barfing on the sidewalk.  To be young again.

A Very Merry Christmas

September 22, 2012

So, here's one of my most favorite memories of dearest Michl....

Michl was coming to our home one Christmas Day.  We were always so excited when he would join us for a holiday; he added a certain flavor to the day.  He would either entertain us with UFO reportings, politics, a great game of chess, or on the best of times.....singing and playing his guitar.  Well, this particular holiday he arrived bearing gifts.  He excitedly told me to open the present.  Now, we do not have formal holidays per say.  However, there are more than a few crazy septuagenarians amongst the crowd, one being my italian, church going mother-in-law.  I opened the nicely wrapped present to find a book.  "How lovely" was my first thought.  Then, I see the title.  I cannot recall the exact title, however, it was a FULLY  illustrated Karma Sutra book that he said I should enjoy with Stephen.  To say I was mortified was an understatement as my mother-in-law quickly left the room to either take a shot of the nearest drink or to grab her rosary beads!  Of course Michl was completely serious.  That was Michl!  Stephen said he would always arrive somewhere with a smile on his face, a beer in his hand, and an attitude of always having a good time.  Holidays will defintely not be the same without him.

Ohh, wait....I have to share one more.  Another holiday, another good time.  This time Michl arrives in time for appetizers at my mother's house.  She makes this fancy platter of shrimp cocktail for her precious son.  Michl politely states he cannot have shrimp as he is allergic.  Jude being Jude, taunts him and nags him until he somehow agrees to try a shrimp.  Why do we all continually give in to Jude I will never know, but that's a different story.  So, Michl eats the shrimp and then immediately proceeds to have an allergic reaction.  Once again I must reiterate that I do recall him specifically saying he was really allergic.  We all then immediately go into code red mode.  The story ends with the roast being ruined and an all out search for medicine at every closed pharmacy.  He always laughed at the retelling of the story though saying "good ole Pete."

Cats need love too

September 22, 2012
Mich'l had a big fat cat named Jack that he totally adored. Some time ago he had arranged for me to adopt Jack's sister Jill and would often keep in touch with me about her. Then one day he got it in his head that Jack needed to....umm....get laid and he figured who better than Jill. Anyhow, he planned out an elaborate meeting for the cats that involved some kind of party with other cats in his building as sort of an ice breaker and then my cat and his were to adjourn to his apartment for a candle lit dinner of Meow Mix and some Marvin Gaye to set the mood. I thought it was so funny but he was actually serious. The cats did eventually live together for a short period but poor Jack never did get any because he said "my p***y was cheap with the p***y". Hahahaha, what a character! Rest in peace Mich'l

Portfolio

September 22, 2012

This was some abstract art that Michl was sending in to a show.  We did not have a gallery, so we set the art up on the floor of the hallway and shot the photo from a ladder.  They thought the art was a little too modern for their show.  Their loss.
