This memorial website was created in honor and memory of our beloved Mizuho colleague, Mike Tominelli. Colleagues, friends, and family are encouraged to leave their messages, memories, and pictures on this site so Mike's family can see all the love and support.

Company-wide message from the CEO of Mizuho Americas sent on April 7, 2020:

Dear Colleagues,

Unfortunately, I have the sad task of informing our Mizuho community of terrible news.

Mike Tominelli, one of the longest tenured employees at MSUSA, passed away today from this virus which seems to have no mercy. I extend the sympathy and support of the entire firm to his wife Barbara and two sons, Brandon and Michael, who reside in Bay Bridge, Brooklyn. Today would have been Mike’s 55th birthday.

Joining the firm almost 28 years ago in 1992, Mike, affectionately known as “Muscles” by the front office, quickly established himself as a consummate professional and trusted teammate in the Fixed Income Operations team. He was well-known for his standout dedication, logging in from home each morning at 5:30am to check fixed income flows before coming into the office.

Mike was last in the office on March 13th and entered the hospital this past Friday. If you worked with Mike’s team, please reach out to them to offer your support and condolences. We need to be there for our colleagues.

Health officials warn that we have entered a peak period for COVID-19 and it’s so important that we rely on each other’s compassion and kindness throughout this dark period. Our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a valuable resource for anyone who needs comfort or would like to speak with a professional counselor.

Please join us this evening on our video livestream where we will pause for a moment of silence in memory and honor of the loss of our two colleagues.

Warm regards,

Teiji Teramoto
CEO & Chairman
Mizuho Americas

I worked with Muscles for 28 years. He checked on my trades countless times a day and would always say "don't worry D, i'll take care of it". He was a sweet soul who was never too busy to help me. I am heartbroken for his beautiful family and for my co-workers who also loved him. There will be a large hole in Mizuho's heart forever. RIP my friend.

Mike was one of the first people I met at MSUSA. He would always ask how I was doing and what is new. Mike was always happy to help if I had a question or didn't understand how something works. One memory, among many, is when he would talk about bringing his son to CYO basketball. Since my sister played CYO in the Brooklyn Queens diocese, we would always joke about the different schools and neighborhoods we ended up in (or got lost in)! May he rest in peace.

I have no words, no words at all. Mike was one of the nicest guys I have ever met. I remember when we worked in Hoboken, we used to discus our love of Freestyle music. My sincerest condolences to Mike's family. He was one of a kind and will be greatly missed. I just can't believe this is real.

My deepest condolences to Mike's family. We worked together for two years but I am so grateful to have been able to get to know and work with him. We would laugh and joke all day and he even introduced me to English muffin pizzas! He will be greatly missed and work will not be the same without hearing in the morning "Good morning, Jas!" My prayers are with the family during this difficult time. God bless.

Mike and I used to always talk about bands we liked and were convinced we had the best taste in music. We shared pandora stations. It was always so great to see him and catch up. I am so very sorry for your loss. Sending you love and prayers.

I can’t believe it’s been 4 years. Time goes by too fast. I recently got Covid for the first time and i immediately thought about Mike. It made me sad but he was such a good person that I know God must have needed him for a special project that couldn’t wait. We all miss and think of you often Mike. RIP
