I'll always remember working in Castle Bookshop in Oakham marketplace in the late 80s and early 90s. Mike would come in every day, early morning to collect the papers and ask for 20 gauloise. His aftershave always filled the shop. He was one of the nicest men. Latterly knowing him through dad at the golf club. What a gent. Sadly missed and much loved. Fondest memories. Sadly missed. x

RIP Mike. I have lots of happy memories from family parties, most of all being honoured to be yours and Sally-Ann’s bridesmaid! You were a very kind person and would do what you could to help whoever you could. I remember coming round to the Crown one lunchtime having just been told I was being made redundant, you gave me a brandy for the shock .

I know David certainly enjoyed your golf days!

Mike/Dad, What a true privilege it was to know you and be part of your family. You were a comedian, charmer and a true gentleman. My most magical memory of you was my wedding day from the tears in your eye as I walked down to the aisle, to you dancing with Leona and the crafty cig you snuck me. There was never a dull moment when you were around.
I am so proud to say you were my father in law. I will love and miss you always. Sleep well Dad.
Love Claire x

I met Mike a few times when James was the Pro at Kettering Golf Club. A true gentleman with a warm friendly personality. He was also wickedly funny. R.I.P Mike

Mike

Thanks for all the memories starting from from when we were just juniors at Greetham Valley. Myself, James, Marc, Danny and Matt Cawte had some great times growing up under your wing. The away days when we shared lifts, trips to the junior finals when we were victorious. So many laughs. The Waycot Classic was a day I think everyone looked forward to, not just for the golf but the drinking and socialising afterwards! Then just a few years back I remember I had to drop something off quickly at Crown House and ended up staying til about midnight having a drink and a chat. Fond memories.

You will be deeply missed but thank you for all the happy times and fun and laughter you gave to so many people

Rest well

Dad, you’ve been my hero all my life and that will always be the case.
We shared some magical memories together over the years, some of which I can’t repeat but I’ll treasure them for the rest of my life.
You really taught me a lot about life, how to be ambitious, courageous, humble but most importantly, how to be a Dad myself, I learnt from the best!
Rest up now, you deserve it. You really are true hero, gentleman and legend and I’m proud to have you as my Dad.
Love you forever
Your very proud son, James xxx

Dearest Dad

For all the good times we shared,
for the wine we drank,
for the laughs we had,
for the things you taught me
and for the memories I will cherish...
...Thank you

I will miss you so very much,
All my love, your son, Peter xxx
