After a battle with cancer, MIldred (Millie) Theresa Hedum went home to Jesus on March 6, 2019 in Merritt Island, FL at the age of 71.

She was born February 6, 1948, to Donald and Julia (Koenigs) Belden in Austin, MN.

Millie loved shopping, eating out, playing cards, watching the grandkids' ball games and cheering on her Green Bay Packers. Mostly though, she loved being a grandmother and boasted to all who knew her about the grandchildren and their accomplishments. She will be remembered by friends and family for her generosity, sarcastic sense of humor, and not so secret crush on Blake Shelton.

She leaves her daughters, Melissa (Scott) Hintz, Katherine Hedum, Julia Hedum and grandchildren, Josephine (Mathew) Affeld, Bailey Hedum, Megan Payette, Matthew Payette, Jacob Hintz, Gabrielle Hintz, Michelle Payette, Lucas Hintz, Maxwell Payette, Benjamin Hintz, Samuel HIntz and Mathias Hintz and 2 great grandchildren.  She leaves siblings, Joseph (Liz) Belden, Rosemary Brown, Liz Thomas, Vivian (Harold) Stoeckel, Judy Viers, Debbie (Byron) Gardner, and James (Laurie) Belden.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother Donald Belden, Sisters; Sharon Wentzel and Donna Cockrell and grandchildren; Molly and Miles Payette.

Millie requested to be cremated. She even preordered an urn so no one else could pick out an "ugly" one and chose a special spot on the mantel over the television where she will be able to hear her Packers play.

Her family would like to say a special thank you to Millie’s best friend Carl Hanson.  He dedicated so much of his love and time to helping her get to appointments, run errands and just being the support she needed.  She spoke of him often and her family can’t thank him enough for being such a loyal friend.

A memorial will be held from 1-3 pm Saturday, April 13, at Heritage Haven community room, 800 Saint James St,La Crosse, WI. All are welcome.

Millie always made our day brighter. And over the last year, it was very touching to see the special bond between Millie and Hazen. She always loved when he asked how she was doing. That ability to sense, acknowledge and value tenderness was a gift. We miss her deeply but look forward to seeing all of you at the memorial.

A very nice moving Tribute. Loved the pictures and song. Millie loved her family, friends & Jesus so much. I miss talking, laughing & praying with her. So many good memories of loving & sharing our grandkids together. It's so comforting to know she is smiling & loving her eternal home. Someday we will all be together again in our eternal home.

Millie was a great big sister.  She would occasionally pick me up and I would stay with her, once Millie and Marlin had bought 3 piglets and 5 chicks.

That night it cooled off, and we worried about the animals

We proceeded to wrap the pigs in blankets and put them in my bedroom

The chicks we thought we'd warm up on the stove in a can (neither of us being farm girls we felt it was a good idea).  Turns out it's not such a good idea!!!!

Recently we we're able to have weekly girls days till she left for Florida.

We enjoyed going out to eat, having our nails done, doing facials and just talking half the night.  Often we'd play the Blake Shelton station, and sing loud, even though neither of us could sing!!!  Suddenly one of us would screw up the words and we'd look at each other and laugh!

Since Millie moved our weekly girls days turned into monthly, but we still found lots of things to talk and laugh about.

I'll miss our talks but will treasure every minute we spent together!

Love you Millie,
