Mildred “Mickey” Louise Pope Peed, 95, a longtime resident of Granville County passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Duke Regional Hospital in Durham.

A native of Granville County, the daughter of the late Ralph Aiken Pope and Carmen Peace. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Creedmoor and was a retired bank manager at Union National Bank in Butner. She traveled extensively throughout Europe and the United States for many years.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 6, 2018 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Creedmoor by Rev. James Shelly and Pastor Stephen Craig Currin. Burial will be in the Pope Family Cemetery on Pope Road in Creedmoor.

Surviving are a son , Thomas “Tommy” Player (Janet) of Creedmoor, and a daughter, Gayla Peed Currin (Craig) of Creedmoor . She was preceded in death by her husband Lucius Peed, a granddaughter, Dana Player, two sisters, Billie P. Weeks, Carmen Hoyle and a brother R.A. Pope Jr.

Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Creedmoor “Building Fund” or to Landmark Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held Friday April 6, 2018 from 12:30-1:45 PM in the Family Life Center and at other times at the home of Thomas and Janet Player.

Gayla, Tommy & family you are in my thoughts & prayers. Mickey was a dear friend whom I loved so much. She will be missed greatly by her friends and church family. There will be no other sweet lady to take the place in Mark's heart .

Gayle, I've not seen you in what seems like ages. You Mother and Father were always so nice to us (Roger, Doug & Kaye Strickland) and your mother was always such a pretty little lady. I'm sorry to hear of her passing and know you and your family are in our prayers. Doug & Debbie Strickland

Gayla, I never got the opportunity to meet your mom but feel as if I did through the stories you shared. I am so sorry for your loss. I know she must have been a wonderful person because she raised a wonderful daughter-YOU- You and your family are in my prayers and thoughts.
