Mildred Neborsky, 88
Mildred Alice Neborsky, age 88, of Henderson, Nevada, and formally of Niceville, Florida died peacefully on April 11, 2016 at Summerlin Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Born Mildred Alice Sellers in Trenton, New Jersey to Bertram Lynn Sellers and Elizabeth Sundermier on January 2, 1928, Mildred is predeceased by her parents, Bertram and Elizabeth and her late husbands Francis Neborsky and Emit Phillips.
Mildred grew up and lived in New Jersey until she moved to Niceville, Florida in 1980. In 1990 Mildred returned to New Jersey for a short period of time to be close to her grandchildren. She returned to Niceville in 1994 and continued to live there until she moved to Henderson, Nevada in 2015.
Mildred is one of four children and is survived by her sister Dorothy Davis of Niceville; FL, sister Carol Henderson of Toccoa, GA, brother B. L. Sellers, Jr. of Mary Esther, Florida, son Frank Neborsky and wife Stephanie Maddocks of Henderson, Nevada; daughter in-law Catherine Neborsky of East Lyme, CT; and her two grandsons, Nicholas Neborsky and Matthew Neborsky both of East Lyme, CT.
Of all things in Mildred’s life, the things she held most dear was her love for her son Frank and her two grandsons, Nick and Matt. Friends would say how Mildred’s face would light up when she talked about them and shared stories about their lives. Mildred also loved animals but had a special place in her heart for cats which she loved the most. Over the years, Mildred had many cats as pets, she loved them all dearly and even had a cat which she had trained to walk on a leash.
Mildred’s career spanned a variety of jobs. While in New Jersey, Mildred worked as a switchboard operator for the Bell Telephone Company, a waitress, a secretary and an administrative billing clerk for a local hospital as well as a volunteer. In Florida, Mildred made use of her prior hospital expertise where she worked at the Twin Cities Hospital in Niceville for over 10 years in billing and administration. After retiring Mildred continued to be active as a volunteer for Twin Cities Hospital, the Heritage Museum of Northwest Florida and Covenant Hospice.
Mildred was a caring and loving person who enjoyed helping others. Although Mildred may have led a quiet and private life, she was not without being recognized for her unselfish deeds and actions. While working for the Bell Telephone Company, Mildred received a citation in recognition for her quick thinking and actions that resulted in saving someone’s life. Mildred continued to receive accolades and recognition for her hard work and dedication while working at hospitals in both New Jersey and Florida. As a volunteer, Mildred continued to receive service awards and was recognized as the Volunteer of the Year in 2003 by the Heritage Museum of Northwest Florida.
Services will be held in Florida at St. Luke's Episcopal Church on Parton Drive in Niceville, Florida on Monday, May 16th, 2016 at 1pm. A brief reception will be held following the service. The internment will take place at the Sunset Cemetery in Valparaiso, Florida following the services at 4:00pm.
Services will be held in Las Vegas at the Northwest Community United Church of Christ (on the campus of First Christian Church of Las Vegas), 101 S. Rancho Dr. on Wednesday, May 18th, 2016 at 4pm.
Donations can be made to Noah’s Animal House in Las Vegas or the givers favorite animal shelter in Mildred’s memory.
