I first heard of Bolaji Anibaba before I met him.
This was in 1977, in a place called Satellite Town in Lagos,a temporary boarding facility for the male students of FGCL.
Two members of 1976 entry set were discussing a Legend,a story of how a brave little Bolaji Anibaba had stood up to some bully in a previous Hostel for FGCL students in Isaac John in Yaba.
I did not have the privilege to be in Isaac John, and stories of all that occured in Isaac John deeply interested me.
I saw Bolaji not long after,a fight had broken out between two male students, both belligerents were dear friends of mine,I was learning dancing (John Travolta/Saturday Night fever type of dance steps) from one of them and I was learning punting in the shallow waters around Satellite Town from the other.
Ordinarily we loved to watch fights, but this was one fight I did not wish to watch.
So I sprang in-between and a Karate kick from one of them, like a mule kick almost dislocated my hips.
Bjay and another student came in to break the fight.
We broke up the fight,no Victor no vanquished and Bolaji Anibaba became a friend afterwards.
Bolaji Anibaba a fine sportsman: Boxer,Table Tennis.
Bolaji Anibaba an extremely reliable Ally.
Long after FGCL I continued to be in touch with Bjay,in UNILAG Bjay sought out my younger brother who looks much like me and became very close with him for my sake.
Such was the friendship.
The friendship transcended decades, and in all those years Bjay never stopped being extremely reliable.
GOD has in HIS wisdom decided to call Bjay home.
The same GOD is able to comfort and strengthen Bjay's immediate family and all those who knew him and who have deeply felt his departure.
I thank GOD for the privilege to have known such a wonderful person and I will cherish the impressions and memories B Jay left behind till my dying day.
May GOD rest Bjay's soul till we meet to part no more.
