Today I remembered Mr Abayachi, I was reminiscing about old times and I remembered him and decided to look him up to see if I could find him. I am deeply saddened by the news of his passing. It was in ninth grade when I met Mr Abayashi, I was a shy quite kid and had not been good at math in my previous years. He was stern, direct and very clear with his explanations and kept me engaged and entertained with his funny comments. I fondly remember him jokingly call me or others in class “burros” after not understanding a topic and finding a way to re explain. I know my uncle had great appreciation for him as well since he was an old student of his (BHS ‘86) and he was happy that Mr Abayachi was going to be teaching me. Although I was only his student for 9th grade and half of 10th grade, Mr Abayachi’s class allowed me to understand and enjoy math at a fundamental age. I am now an engineer and I’m so grateful that god put him in my path. I wish I had a chance to go back and thank him for his lessons and being a great teacher. Thank you Mr Abayachi you will forever be remembered. My condolences to his family and friends. Edgar Morales BHS ‘01
