Moji Benson…hmmm, where can I start? Moji, my egbon with the eternal youthful look. You would always very fondly let people know that you were the older sister because I looked older than you (that youthful beauty !) and would introduce me to people as your ‘baby sister’. You have been there for me all of my life, my immediate big sister.
There are so many stories I could tell about you, like how you used to look out for me after school when we were in primary school…. or how you, sis Kemi and Toyin used to ‘chance’ me because I was the youngest…… and how you and Pastor Kehinde encouraged me to relocate to UK to pursue my masters’ degree and supported me when I did move …. And of course, our many, many conversations about anything and everything…. plus, you could fall asleep anywhere sha, even standing .
You were a solid rock for me over the years, always ready to lend an ear. You supported me during challenging times, encouraged me when I was unsure and celebrated joyous moments with me. You were always so calm and full of wisdom. You were such an inspiration to me, your determination and grit, in building your dream business. It was such a joy celebrating your many successes with you, and you excitedly sharing with me each new step you were taking with your business. I am so proud of you! You always brought such warmth into my heart and you were so giving.
And we all know what an awesome woman of God you were. You loved God and served Him diligently. I know that you are now singing with the angels in heaven. I just always took it for granted and assumed that we would grow old together. I can’t quite comprehend that I will not hear your sweet voice again, see your beautiful face again, or listen to your gentle teasing again. But I know that you are now looking down at us with a warm gentle smile as we celebrate your life. Please give my love to mummy and daddy. Mojisola Omolola Benson nee Fakeye, I love you and will miss you terribly, but I know that you are in a better place, my sweet, sweet sister.
