June 18, 1931 - May 9, 2014.

Mona Moore was born to Mary Louise Flagler and Glen Upchurch. She was the only surviving child of four babies who died at birth. She was a survivor from day one. She grew up with her grandparents, Kate and Henry Upchurch, and her beloved cousin, Bill Upchurch.Mona won two scholarships; one to the Eastman School of Music and another for her artistic talents. Mona painted, drew, decorated, was a master gardener, a skilled cook, and a caretaker to her Mother, children and grand-children. She taught herself French and traveled extensively, even writing her name on the Eiffel Tower. There was nothing this woman could not do
.
Mona married James Welch and had six beautiful children: Cheryl, Jimmy, Michael, Lindy (Leonard Kruze), Chris, and Terry. After James abandoned his family, she raised them alone with the help of her devoted Mother. Mona always allowed her children to have a dog when the last thing she needed was another mouth to feed. Mona worked six days a week to support her children and never received nor considered child support or public assistance.
Mona eventually married James Moore, a physicist in the research labs at Kodak. She purchased a cottage on Rushford Lake for her family where countless happy memories were made just as she had wanted. Mona's cottage was well known in the area for its beautiful garden; it was not uncommon for people to stop and stare.

Mona was a devoted Mother who supported her children in every way possible. She was a loving grandmother whom her grandchildren adored. It was a regular debate among her grandchildren about whose turn it was to spend the weekends with her. Mona was a beloved friend to many, in particular Joyce Pugh, Josie and Walt Enos, Alice and Marsha.

There are so many things we could write about our Mother. It would take years to describe the incredible, strong, funny, generous lady that she was. Our Mom had requested that we have no service. She hopes to be remembered through the countless memories with those she loved. She leaves her broken-hearted children, as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Jenny (Zeke Ochs), Jarie-Lynn, Brandy (Pierre Rochon), Jill, Jamie (Jessica Saner), Tracy, Taylor (Brian Beckler), Donovan, CJ, Luke, Breanna, Deavon, JaeLyn, Teagan, Brandon, Emily, Ana, Ryan and Jacques; nieces and nephews: Leslie, Pete, Carolyn, Dorinda and David Upchurch. Cousin: Rooney Zink; former sons-in-law: Jerry Doberstein and Frankie Manioci; former daughters-in-law: Anne Lystne and Karen Whitcomb.
She was pre-deceased by her son-in-law, Leonard Kruze. Mona also leaves behind her beloved dog, Mouse.
Mom, there are no words to describe the pain we feel. We will love and miss you forever. We won't disappoint you. Thank you for everything. With love and devotion, Cheryl, Jimmy, Michael, Lindy, Chris, and Terry.

Hello Mother,

I miss you, I love you, I think of you everyday. As I get older I realize what an incredible person you really were. You are so much better, stronger and more capable than I ever could be. But I try to emulate your ways as much as I can.

Thank you for being such a great example of someone who against all odds lived a great life. You really were an amazing woman. I cannot wait to see you again.

Love me,

# 4

Almost 7 years now Mom. There still isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of you or wish you were here. You were so good to us. I appreciate every single thing you have ever done for me. Thank you Mom.

I wish you were here to see my little granddaughter. She brought me back to life.  But I am glad you have missed some of the most heart breaking days we have ever faced.  Losing Jamie was the most difficult thing to go thru and it ripped my heart out. What's left of my heart anyway.

You would be happy with me and Chris, we have kept our promise to you, to make you proud and we always will. Spring time and all the beautiful trees have opened and look so pretty. I wish you had lived longer to see them all. Maybe you do. I love you Mom. I miss you.
