Funeral service will be held Saturday, November 20, 2021 at First Thessalonians (30 South Oberlin/Dayton, OH). Visitation will begin at 10:00am and service to follow at 11:00am.
Monica Michelle Blake was born in Dayton, Ohio on April 24th 1975 to Jocelyn Dawkins and the late Wilson Dawkins, the second oldest of four children. Monica went to Dayton Public Schools, graduated from Dunbar High School and attended Sinclair Community College. She was employed by Premier Health for a number of years and enjoyed advocating for the needs of her consumers.
Monica had a kind and loving spirit and was a joy to be around; She never met a stranger and opened her doors and heart to anyone in need. Monica is survived by 9 children; Quinetta (John) Copland, Aire’Anna Stevens, Isreal Chambers, Chamonica Chambers, Shemiah Chambers, Sau’Raun Blake, Marniquia DeBruce, Mark DeBruce Jr., and My’Ora DeBruce. Siblings; Corey Blake, Rene Blake, Alan Blake, Jacqueline Dawkins, Stephen Williamson, Significant other and love of her life the past 17 years Mark DeBruce Sr. Grandchildren; Sae’Yhaun Stevens, Johnetta Copeland, Joshua Copeland, Kaylee Smith, Raevyn Chambers, Jonathan Copeland, Troy Reid III, and Kaileb Archie. Surviving nieces and nephews include, Trevon Blake, N’Dasia Blake, Ja’Nya Dawkins, as well as other relatives and friends.
Monica was an amazing and loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, grandmother and fiancé’ and will truly be missed by all!
