Monte was a friend and supporter to many throughout his life, both in and out of the office. His legacy is best portrayed by the success of the people and organizations that he helped nurture throughout his life. Monte's dedication and loyalty to his family, friends and industry associates remained unwavering to the end. He will be missed!

Together at last with his beloved wife, but a great void in the lives of his family and all of us related to the Mitchell family. My Uncle Monte was a dynamo who could ignite an idea and inspire others...a characteristic he and Aunt Joann passed on to my cousins, their daughters. God Bless you and yours...Denise & Harry

Heaven became a sweeter place as Monte had his reunion with Joann and other loved ones. I am sure that Bob C. was close by to meet his long time friend and welcome him home. Our respect for Monte and all of the AEA family, not only helped us through the years, but also gave us many happy memories. My love and prayers to Paula, Debbie, Lisa and your families.

Monte was such a treat to know. His wife grew up across the street from my mother, Gloria Hahn Byam. When Mom moved to The Fountains, she and Monte were reintroduced and became table companions (when Monte wasn't attending an organization function). He was such a caring fellow and has followed up with Mom since her move to skilled nursing. Monte, we'll miss your calls. Peace be with you.

I first met Monty at the initial European meeting of the AEA. It was his obvious enthusiasm and integrity that encourage me to join. He dedicated himself to the organisation and this dedication was clearly passed on to his family who continue to make the organisation prosper. Monty you had a great life, wonderful family, great achievements and many friends. You will be sadly missed.

I am so sad to hear that Mr.Mitchell has passed. It was a great pleasure to witness his life in brief when he received the AEA life time achievement award in 2007. What a man, what a visionary, what an international legacy he has left and what a wonderful family he has been surrounded by. Our best wishes to all during this difficult time from his AEA family in Australia.

Hard to know what to say -- such losses are always profound and infinitely sad... until the best of your memories take over and allow you to enjoy all the times you shared. Monte was a class act and a distinctive presence in an industry that is blessed with many such wonderful/notable folks -- and even amongst them all, he stood out. God bless...

I first met Monte in the early 1990s. He was working to establish a statute of repose for aircraft manufacturers (his efforts led to GARA in 1994 - a statute that permitted the revitalization of general aviation in America). Without Monte, the industry might not exist as it does, today; he will be remembered as an important leader in the avionics (and aviation) industry.
