His survivors include: one daughter, Meriel Avery, Valley, AL; three sons, Adrian Avery, Atlanta, GA, Alfred (Juanita) Avery Albuquerque, New Mexico and Christopher (Francine) Avery, Lanett, AL; grandchildren, Terrance (Serena) Rudd, Chiquitta Avery, Demetrius Rudd, Tierra (Michael) Summers, MaShondra Johnson, Martavious Johnson, Calvert Coriz, Mariah Torrez, Ben & Luis Devargas and Nizhoney Hendrick; nine great-grandchildren; siblings, Idalene Hollaway, Mae Doris Reed and Velvilan (Ralph) Combs all of Lanett, AL, Sharon (Bernard) Barrow, Omaha, NE and Robert (Barbara) Avery, Sacramento, CA; brother-in-law, Prather (Karen) James, Mobile, AL; god-daughters, Melissa Tucker, Carlishiara Barber and the Valley Girls; and, a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends including his special friend, Lillie Mae Thomas, Lanett, AL. Mr. Avery was a devoted member of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church and served as a Deacon and in the Choir Ministry. His love for God allowed him to express himself through music singing with the quartet groups Dixie Harmoneers, Traveling Spirituals and others.
