Mr. Charles Edward Barnes, affectionately called “Baby”, was born March 29, 1956 in Chambers County, Alabama, the son of Eddie Lee Huguley and Mary Dean Avery. His education was received in the Chambers County School System.

Charles was employed with West Point Stevens for many years. He had a special love for gardening and landscaping. He was passionate about his family-- especially spending time with his grandchildren and the grandson whom he reared as his own, Montarious “Doogie” McCullough.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Willie Gene Barnes, Anthony Barnes and Jerry Barnes.

His survivors include: one daughter, Andrea Thomas (Maurice) Black, Valley, AL; one son, Christopher (Delaina) Thomas, Lanett, AL; five grandchildren, Dontavious Billingsley, Montarious McCullough, MaStephon Taylor, MarQuayviontay Thomas and Peyton Black; sisters, Shirley Williams, Beverly Smith, Darlene Barnes, Marie Huguley (Emanuel) Evans and Catherine Crosley; brother, Howard (Gwendolyn) Barnes, Jr.; aunts, Thelma (Willie Frank) Darden, Pastor Mary Huguley and Mary Lee (George) Williams; sisters-in-law, Shirley Barnes and Leatha Barnes; and, a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends including special friends, Anneth Thomas, Pauline Ware and Robert Earl Winston.
