Courtland LaRae Harper began his life journey on Sunday, July 5, 1970 and departed this life on Sunday, November 10, 2013.  Everyone called him Rae.

Rae was a life long resident of Valley, Alabama.  he was a graduate of Valley High School.  He loved spending time with his boys, family and friends.

Rae was preceded in death by his loving mother, Margaret Phillips; caring maternal grandmothers, Ella Mae Harper and paternal, Ethel Mae Houston.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving sons, Courtland Harper, Jr. and Braylon McGruder, Valley, AL; devoted companion of seven years, Michelle McGruder, Valley, AL; two step-daughters he reared as his own, Teriyuna McGruder and Brasia Cofield, all of Valley, AL; and Shakell (Adrian) McFarlin, West Point, GA; father, Willie (Lavone) Felix West Point, GA; seven siblings, Dewann "Albert" Core, Kandra Brewer, both of Valley, AL, Michael Felix, West Point, GA, Kymberly Alexander, Lanett, AL, Sherry Ann Linder, Atlanta, GA and Angela Johnson, LaGrange, GA: grandfather, Jesse Harper, Valley, AL; 12 neices and nephews; and, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
