Boyd, Mr. Hugh, a resident of Valley, AL, died Friday, September 9, 2016 at West Georgia Hospice, LaGrange, GA.

Funeral Services are scheduled for Friday, September 16, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. from Pilgrim Baptist Church, Lanett, AL with Rev. Fredrick James, Ph.D., officiating.

Interment with Military Honors will follow in Ft. Tyler Cemetery, West Point, GA.

Davis Memorial Mortuary of Valley directing.

Public Viewing is scheduled for Thursday, September 15, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Davis Memorial Mortuary Chapel.

Professional services provided by Davis Memorial Mortuary Inc. in Valley Alabama.

To God I still give Honor and Glory, still thanking God we met my friend, although we were never lovers, we were great friends, and we and our other friends in Brooklyn had good times together..... rest on my friend in Heavenly Paradise, Grover passed in 2015 and you in 2016 two men in my life are truly missed.

Happy Birthday in Paradise....I know we both are glad not to be back in Brooklyn, NY now, so much is going on in the world, you are in a much safer place, sitting around Gods' Throne.... Hugh Boyd was my cousin on my grandma side. We was proud of Hugh for being a police man. I heard that he was a fine policeman.

My name is Mildred M. Kirkland, I knew Hugh in Brooklyn, NY. He was a true and very good friend. He called me several times in early 2016 just to check on me, after the passing of my husband at the end of 2015, Hugh wanted to come to SC and go fishing with my brother. Back in the early 70's Hugh took me for my first and last Motorcycle ride. I tried calling him a few months ago, it was not like him not to call back, so I tried calling again to wish him a Happy New Year, when I got the message his phone is not working, so I googled and found out this very sad news....my deepest sympathy to the Family..

I am Ricky Price. I had the pleasure to work with Hugh at the Lanett Police Department. He was a wonderful person and a great police officer. I had an unexpected Dr. appointment, today, or I would have been there. My prayers are with his entire family and his friends.

Hello, my name is Kelly Meacham. I had the pleasure of knowing Hugh when when worked for the City of Lanett PD years ago. I worked in the fire department and spoke with him frequently. Hugh was always soft spoken, and a very professional police officer. My prayers go out to his family.

Mr. Hugh I'm gonna miss you. You reminded me of the things that a veteran coach forgets. The little things. Not just that, he was a man of precious wisdom. I enjoyed the conversations we shared. He was a true gentlemen and father figure. As I came to know him, he loved helping kids, especially in life and sports. He's to be celebrated. Thank God for Mr. Hugh

Hello my name is Lindsey and I'm one of Jehovah's witnesses! I just want to say how sorry i am for your loss. I understand how painful it can be to lose a loved one. A comforting scipture in the Bible that me and majority of people find so comforting. At Isaiah 25:8 "he will swallow up death forever, and the sovereign Lord Hehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces". What an amazing time that will be to see our love ones come back and death will be no more! Stay strong!

I am so very sorry to learn of Hugh's passing, we spoke several time early last year, he was concerned about me since the death of my husband in December 2015.

Now I know why he had not returned my calls, when I tried calling today, hI got a message on his phone and I just felt something was not right. As I fore stated Hugh was my friend, the took me on my first Bike ride in Brooklyn. He was going to come visit when he and some of his retired Police buddies was coming up to SC to fish. I am truly deepely sorry he is gone, had I known I would have come to Alabama to say good bye to my special Friend.

I pray the family strenght in Christ, I know you all miss Him, I miss talking with him, we also talked about his brother Tinny, and his health. Thank you Lord for having Mr. Hugh Boyd. To God be the GLORY. Amen
