Mr. Heard was preceded in death by his parents, Carter and Minnie Lee Satterwhite Heard, Sr. and one brother, Larry Heard. His survivors include: four sisters, Bernice Marable, Roanoke, AL, Remona (Vincent) Heard and Lisa (Joe) Tinker both of Gadsden, AL and Yvonne Higgins, LaFayette, AL; two brothers, Jessie L. Heard, Hamilton, AL and Carter (Elizabeth) Heard, Jr., Roanoke, AL; two uncles, Clinton Heard, Baltimore, MD and Willis Heard, Jr., Roanoke, AL; one aunt, Johnnie Ruth Satterwhite; his surrogate family, Shaun and Christina "Lisa" Lewis, Wadley, AL; a special adopted nephew, Cory Johnson, Roanoke, AL; and, a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
