His Life

Mr. L D Hurston, Jr. was born in West Point, GA on March 28, 1960 to the family of L D and Bennetta G. Lovelace Hurston, Sr. Affectionately known as “Randy”, he attended the public schools of Chambers County, Alabama.

He confessed Christ at the age of 17 and joined Zion Rest Baptist Church in Valley, Alabama. Later in life, he united with Mt. Hermon Baptist Church of Lanett, Alabama under the leadership of the Rev. Louis Upshaw. He worked for several years with McGininis Septic Tank Company and was last employed by Kenny Knox Tire Company of Valley.

He was preceded in death by his father; his brother, Billy Hurston; and, a special friend, Walter Billingslea. L D Hurston, Jr. departed this life on Sunday, November 29, 2015 in East Alabama Medical Center, Opelika, AL.

His life will forever be cherished by: his loving and devoted mother, Bennetta G. Lovelace Hurston, Lanett, AL; his devoted companion of 39 years, Barbara Ann Billingslea, Lanett, AL; two daughters, Tristan Billingslea and Ariel Billingslea both of Lanett, AL; one son, Randy (La’Sheeka) Billingslea, Lanett, AL; six grandchildren, Alexazavier Davidson, Regend Billingslea, Ashton Flemister, Cameron Davis and Holland Billingslea all of Lanett, AL and Marveuntae Dunn, Auburn, AL; six sisters, Edna Hurston, Charlene H. Hargett, Gloria (Robert) Tyner, Anita (Donnwell) Kashiri and Bonnita (Calvin) Hicks all of Lanett, AL and Theresa Goodson, Washington, DC; ten brothers, Johnny (Barbara) Hurston, Larry Hurston, Eddie Hurston, Edward Bailey, Jr., Johnny Lee Bailey, Michael (Angela) Bailey, Jefferey Bailey and Daniel Lewis Bailey all of Lanett, AL, Milton Glaze, Lexington, KY and Jerome (Tracie) Bailey, Las Vegas, NV; a special aunt, Mae Fannie Flowers, Valley, AL; three aunts, Gertrude Brooks, Lanett, AL, Ezella Merritt, Baltimore, MD and Catherine Williams, Chattanooga, TN; and, a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
