Mr. Carter was a life-long, faithful member of Mt. Zion AME Church. He was a 1976 graduate of Valley High School and was employed with West Point Stevens of Valley for more than 30 years.

His survivors include: his wife, Yolanda James Carter, Valley, son, Branden Carter, Valley, AL; daughters, Monique (Marcus) Fuller, Jonesboro, GA and Starska Brooks, Valley, AL; three granddaughters; his mother, Fannie Carter, Valley, AL; brothers, Anthony (Carolyn) Carter, Opelika, AL, Kenneth Carter, Hope Mill, NC and Teddy Carter, Valley, AL; sisters, Shirley Hervey, Valley, AL and Shurby Jean Copeland, Atlanta, GA; father-in-law, Leroy James, Sr., Valley, AL; three brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
