Mr. Pollard Strong of Snellville,Georgia formerly of Goodwater, Alabama died January 11, 2012
Funeral service for Mr.Pollard Strong will be Friday, January 20,2012 at Marietta Baptist Church at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Marietta Baptist Church Cemetery
Mr. Pollard Strong was born on December 10, 1913, to Mr. & Mrs. Rufus and Glynn Strong in Coosa County, Alabama. He went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 11, 2012. He spent his last days surrounded by the love, devotion, and care of his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and his team of healthcare professionals.
Mr. Strong gave his life to the Lord as a young man, and united with the Marietta Baptist Church. He became a devout man of God and was set aside to become a Deacon; however, he did not feel worthy to hold the position. He sought the Lord in prayer, and in a dream, God elevated him to the position of Deacon, where he served faithfully for decades. As Deacon Strong would say, “I put my hands to the gospel plow and never looked back.” He imparted his love for the Lord into anyone that would listen. He loved to talk about the Lord’s goodness, and he was a devoted servant.
“Daddy.” as he was affectionately called by the family, developed many special relationships over the years through the study of God’s word. He always kept his Sunday School book and his Bible close by his side. In his later years, he did not need his glasses to read the scriptures.
Daddy was also blessed with a deep rich bass voice. He sang with a male gospel group as a young man. He also taught his children how to sing when they were young. They formed a gospel group called the Gospel Caravans. Daddy was the manager, and the group performed at most of the local church’s.
During his early years, Daddy was a farmer, barber and carpenter. Additionally, he worked for Sterling Lumber company until his retirement. He could do anything he set his mind to. He built his own home in Goodwater, AL and spent many wonderful years there with his family and friends.
Daddy had many interests. He loved animals and cared for his pets until he was no longer ale to do so. He also loved good southern food. Daddy could bake a delicious skillet of corn bread. He also enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves baseball team, and his home was always open to family and friends.
Mr. Pollard Strong, our father, grandfather, great-grandfather, father-in-law, brother, uncle, and friend touched our lives in many special ways. His presence in our lives was a gift we will always thank God for. His hearty chuckle, twinkling eyes, and easygoing ways always blessed our family. We are especially thankful for the covenant that he established with Jesus Christ and the legacy of faith he leaves behind. The Scriptures say,
The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; planted in the house of the LORD, They will flourish in the courts of our God. They will still bear fruit in old age; -Psalm 92
Rest assured, Daddy is now with his savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord says, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies.” -John 11:25. As Daddy would often say, “I am on my way to heaven, and I am enjoying the trip.”

2012-01-18 19:14:36God saw you getting tired,
When a cure was not to be.
So He wrapped his arms around you,
and whispered, "come to me."
You didn't deserve what you went through,
So He gave you rest.
God's garden must be beautiful,
He only takes the best.
And when I saw you sleeping,
So peaceful and free from pain.
I could not wish you back,
To suffer that again.

2012-01-15 18:07:23"LOVE ONE ANOTHER AS I HAVE
LOVED YOU"
Love one another as I have Loved you
May seem impossible to do
But if you will try to trust and believe
Great are the joys you will receive....
For love makes us patient,
understanding and kind,
When we judge with our hearts
and not with our minds,
for as soon as love enters the
heart open door,
The faults we once saw are
not there any more
And the things that seemed wrong
begins to look right
When viewed in the softness of love's gentle light...
for love works in ways that are
wondrous and strange
And there is nothing in life that love cannot change
And all God promised will some day come true
When you love another the way
He loves You.
