Richard Johnson, 86 of Mullica Hill NJ passed away March 1, 2018. Born in Uniontown PA on May 2, 1931. Son of the late John E. Johnson and Hazel (Minerd) Johnson. 


Proudly served in the US Navy. Graduated from California University in California, PA.  Taught at Paulsboro High School and coached baseball, basketball and track. Retired after 37 years. Owned and operated the Acorn Shop in Mullica Hill for many years. Was a member of the Mullica Hill Lions Club, member and Governor of Moose 932 Woodstown, NJ. Served 25 years on the Harrison Township Zoning Board. Enjoyed fishing, boating, crabbing but his real passions were golfing, cooking and taking walks in the park with his dog Lexi. Richard had a great personality and was the life of the party with his quick sense of humor and zest for life. 

Predeceased by brother Jack Johnson. Survived by devoted wife of 60 years Jane (Hoist) Johnson and loving daughters Denise (Richard) Barone, Wilmington DE and Karen (Edward) Dempsey, South Harrison NJ and special grandson Eddie Dempsey, Niece Patricia (Johnson) Sheckells, Lilburn GA, Brother in-law Frank (Ann) Hoist Allison Park PA, Sister in-law Joan (Fredrick) Derr, Blackwood NJ, nephews Christopher (Karen) Derr, Lindenwold NJ, Jeffrey Derr, Williamstown NJ and many cousins. 

Visitation Wed. 3/7 from 6-8 pm and Thurs., 3/8 from 10-11:15 am at the Catholic Community of the Holy Spirit Parish Center, 17 Earlington Ave., Mullica Hill, NJ 08062, where Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 am. Interment Holy Name of Jesus Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude's Hospital for Children or a charity of your choice.

We were truly saddened to hear of mr Johnson’s passing.  He was truly a wonderful man who always greeted you with a big smile and hug he had a way of making you feel very special. We will miss him dearly. I was so sorry to hear of Dick 's death. He was a wonderful man ..he always had a big smile, and knew how to make you feel special and appreciated.. He was always just FUN to be around... Prayers of comfort and a big hug being sent to Jane and the family from Dave and I.

My heart is very heavy.So sad to hear about Dick passing away. He was always someone that I looked up to with the upmost respect. I had many good times and happy memories with all of you. I'm so grateful to have known him. He has touched so many lives in a special way. Cherish all those Wonderful Memories....
