Mr. Roy H. “Stuff” Hervey, Jr.
To Everything There Is a Season . . .   Ecclesiastes 3:1

A Time to Be Born:
Roy H. “Stuff” Hervey, Jr. was born February 16, 1967 in Jacksonville, Florida, the son of the late Roy H. Hervey, Sr. and the late Martha DeLaughter.  He was adopted by his devoted and loving mother, Shirley Carter Hervey.

A Time to Serve:

“Stuff”, as he was affectionately called, accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at an early age and joined Emanuel Baptist Church, Jacksonville, Florida.  Upon moving to Alabama, he attended Pilgrim Baptist Church, Lanett, Alabama and Community Baptist Church, Valley, Alabama.  He then joined Harvest Dome Ministries, Lanett, Alabama and later joined and served at Eagle’s Nest Cathedral, West Point, Georgia under the leadership of Apostle Melvin Cartwright.

A Time to Build:

Roy was a 1987 graduate of Lanett High School.  After graduation he joined the United States Marine Corps and served our country with pride.   He worked for Newt’s Food Machine and Wendy’s restaurants.  Outdoor cooking was one of his favorite hobbies.  He was a huge football fan and enjoyed watching sports.

A Time of Mourn:

He was preceded in death by his brother, Erskine Robinson and sisters, Leslie Hervey and Shyrell Hervey.  Roy H. Hervey, Jr. departed this life on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at George H. Lanier Memorial Hospital in Valley, AL.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories:  his mother, Shirley Carter Hervey; grandmother, Fannie Carter; two sisters, Dr. Sonya McGill and Sharone Hervey (David, Jr.) Core; five uncles, Rev. David DeLaughter, Irvin Hervey, Anthony (Carolyn) Carter, Kenneth Carter and Teddy Carter; 10 aunts, Shurby Copeland, Melinda Carter, Yolanda Carter, Naomi Anderson, Dorthenia McCloud, LaVerne Lamb, Mary Holloway, Betty DeLaughter, Anita Robinson; eight nieces, Shyrell (Kenny), Shontia (Kevin), Sonya, Sydney, Seryta, Serria, Shonteria and Scarlett; three nephews, Gregory (Quanda), Trentavious and Elijah; four great-nieces; six great-nephews;  special god-parents, James and Mary Alice Darden; and, a host of cousins, other loving relatives and friends.
