Arissa LaGail Lloyd Stanfill was the second of three daughters born to the union of Frank and Eulala Ratchford Lloyd of LaFayette, Alabama on October 29, 1934. After the family moved to Lanett, Alabama Arissa accepted Christ at an early age and joined Ebenezer Baptist Church.

She graduated from Lanier High School. While attending Lanier High School, Arissa participated in track and field, winning many awards. After her high school graduation, she moved to Springfield, MA and later married Charles Stanfill. She later made her home in Richmond, VA. She enjoyed a career as a Licensed Practical Nurse, retiring March 23, 2003 from Hunter Holmes McGuire Veterans Administration Medical Center in Richmond.

 

Arissa was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of South Richmond. She actively participated in the following ministries: Deaconess Ministry, Deaconess Emeritus, Sanctuary Choir, Ladies Auxiliary, Door Keepers and the Diaconate Drama Ministry where she performed in plays traveling to several churches throughout Virginia and Maryland. The plays included: “If Anybody Ask You Who I Am, Tell Them That I’m A Child of God”, “The Devil on Trial” and a One Act Play directed by Deaconess Emeritus Dorothea Winfree.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; one sister, Mary E. McCollough; and, her grandson.

Arissa L. Stanfill departed this life on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Oakview Rapid Rehab in Silver Springs, Maryland.

Her survivors include: four children, Vernicka Mack, Atlanta, GA, Timothy Stanfill, Upper Marlboro, MD, Anthony (Larceaner) Stanfill, Adams, TN and Michelle Stanfill Weld (David T.), Philadelphia, PA; ten grandchildren;three great-grandchildren; one sister, Mamie Frank, Lanett, AL; and, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, her church family and many friends.
