Her Life

Bobbie was born in Montevallo, AL, and moved to West Point, GA when she was 29 years old. She graduated from Montevallo High School and went on to Alabama College for Women (now the University of Montevallo) where she received a bachelor’s degree in secretarial science and went on to earn her master’s degree in education. Mrs. Hamrick taught at Lanett High School and LaGrange High School. Upon the opening of Springwood School in Lanett, AL she taught business courses and worked in the business office for 24 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in West Point, GA.

Bobbie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She had a great love for God and enjoyed expressing this through music and studying God’s Word. At church she sang in the choir, attended Bible studies, played the piano for her Sunday School class, and participated in a United Methodist Women’s circle. After retirement, she was an avid reader, kept up with current events, and enjoyed her time with family and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jackson Hamrick, her father, Enoch Weaver Wilson, her mother, Glennie Gracie Baker Wilson, two brothers, Calvin Wilson and Bill Wilson, and her sister, Gulmer Wilson.

She is survived by two daughters, Carol Ann Hamrick of Duluth, GA, and Gene Hamrick Parks (Dave) of Colleyville, TX; and three grandchildren, Brian Parks, Rebecca Parks, and Sara Grace Parks.
