Dorothy A. Cammon Benton was born September 11, 1944 to the parentage of Early and Jessie Mae Osby Cammon in Chambers County, Alabama. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior and joined Evergreen Baptist Church in Valley, Alabama.

She was educated in the Chambers County School System attending Rehobeth High School in Fairfax (now Valley), Alabama. Dorothy was united in marriage to Tommy D. Benton on April 27, 1974. They were married 44 ½ years. She was employed by West Point Pepperrell as a Classer/Towel Inspector for 20 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Essie Lee McCants. Dorothy departed this life on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at East Alabama Medical Center, Opelika, Alabama.

Her survivors include: her devoted husband, Tommy D. Benton, Lanett, AL; two daughters, Deborah (Rev. Willie Joe) Fears, Radcliff, KY and Jennifer (Robert) Holloway, Lanett, AL; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Lee Greene, Lanett, AL; brother-in-law, Sammy L. Benton, Lanett, AL; sister-in-law, Irelia Benton Magby, Valley, AL; and, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
