I was privileged to learn from your humility and wisdom and so see life as a special gift from JESUS CHRIST to impact our world. The joy is that your son, Ikenna Ikoku has imbibed these attributes in his living.

As I watched how you did it, I learnt a thing or two- Motherhood can commingle with calmness  and there is joy in being present. Farewell Auntie and remain in the bosom of our Lord.

My dear Ikenna at this time of great pain, I mourn with you . My prayers are always with you and your family. You love her so much but God loves her more. I guess that is why HE has called her home to rest. The greatest tribute we can pay is to continue the good work she started which is to spread Gods gospel of love!!

When tomorrow starts without me, and I'm not there to see.
I wish so much you wouldn't cry, the way you did today, for me.
I know how much you love me, as much as I love you..
And each time that you think of me, I know you'll miss me, as much as I miss you. But please try to understand that God's angel came and called my name and took me by the hand.

From Ms. Terri Emezi (Vice-Chair, UWA Children*s Center Committee) UNN. ''Edem, Edem; is this how you will leave us? Looking at you, those who didn*t know better would be deceived into thinking you were a quiet person. Not so. You enjoyed joking and living life to the fullest as much as we all did. Vaya con Dios, Edem!''

Dear Mummy,
The news of your passing on to glory was very sad for us all, and it left a great void in our hearts. However, we do take solace in our belief that you are now at rest with our Lord Jesus Christ. We will miss your kind words, laughter, humorous and lively conversations, thoughtfulness, kindness, integrity and Good nature. Goodnight dear mother –in- Law and Grandma!

Dear Mummy,
As a friend of the family, we all will indeed miss you. Your wonderful children you left behind will still keep your light shinning bright for a very long time. We all wished you lived longer; but on the contrary we believe you now rest peacefully in the bosom of the lord, free from the troubles and pains of this sinful world.
Adieu Mama, Sleep well!

It's so sad when loved ones go home to meet our maker. I first met madame Ikoku during our marriage to Erinma. I quickly took to her beautiful, loving, sweet smile and countenance. She remained that way since then. You will certainly be missed. May your gentle soul rest in perfect peace Amen. You will see Prof in Glory amen. May our good lord continue to guide & protect your children Amen.

Mom, you were God’s special gift to me, a priceless gift of unconditional love! You always believed in me, always there for me and loved me no matter what. Your love prepared me for life. The pain of your exit is ineffable; but my grief is assuaged knowing you are peacefully resting in the bosom of Jesus awaiting our eternal reunion. I love you Mom!

The Mummy, irreplaceable, incomparable, unforgettable! The pain of a life without you is indescribable; the misery, unfathomable. Were it not for Jesus, I would be inconsolable. But in between my tears, I remember that you are in His bosom. Enjoy your eternal rest until we meet again to part no more.

First, let me say, I love you, mom. You are my "Mummy the Great"!
Thank you for all the love, care and guidance. You nurtured and instilled values I could not depart from as I grew. Returning that care recently was a golden gift. Then, just like a dream, you left. Goodnight, mom.
I love you!

Mom, Dad, July is always a special time for me because it's your birth month. I have been thinking of you both. Well, I do think of you all the time. Of recent, I'm grateful for all the values you lived by and imparted to us (Ikenna, Erinma and myself) as well as other family, friends and colleagues in your sphere of influence. If you were to return to our 21st century, I bet you would be so surprised by the things happening in Nigeria, the USA and around the world. But those values you lived by are helping me navigate seemingly new challenges. Yes they are my anchor in the shifting sands of time. Love you more and more, for all that you were. And are, still.

Dearest Mum E,
You would have been 85 today. Your birthday comes a day after mine and you always reminded me about your 70th birthday party and how much happiness it brought you since daddy's passing. You will say, Marý, that party was done just the way I loved my parties. I remember you today with fondness. Those mornings and evenings of our small gist by your bed side remain my fondest memories of you because you were so knowledgeable about so many things and you shared so much of those with me. I love how you loved your kids and learnt to carry mine same way. An amazing mother you were and I do know that you are heaven's gain. You sure are in a better place, where there is no more pain and troubles. Keep resting in peace mum till we meet again to part no more. You are forever missed.

Mary Okereke-Ikoku.
